Must hit tracks

What tracks should I try to make my way too? (Out of)

Closest: NJMP
NYST
SUMMIT POINT

Medium:
Pitt
NC Bike
VIR

Far:
CPM
Road Atlanta
Roebling road

Odds are I'm not driving 10+ hours for the last 3. If there is any good tracks I'm missing north of nj let me know I'm trying to figure out a schedual. For my last summer of freedom...

125/day if you've never been on a track before, and you can bring someone for that price. Otherwise it is more like 180/day. It's just through the track, not through any organization

Everybody has an opinion, so here's mine:

What do I look for in a track? SAFETY

Well Maintained surfaces with lots of flat runoff, with minimal walls, with airfence where there is potential issues.

Good security with tall fences to keep deer, dogs and feral people out.

Good Riding organization with educational classes with an attitude of taking safety seriously.

If you are SERIOUS, go to the California Superbike School in May at NJMP (May 15, 16th). they will teach you a ton about track riding, and riding in general. you will have a leg up on every other new track rider at the track days to follow. Call them to see if they have any slots left for those days. Best $475 you'll ever spend.

OP, if NJMP is your local you are close to one of the most technically challenging tracks in the country; Loudon, New Hampshire.

If NJMP is your thing, I will likely be instructing there April 8-9 which is cooperative TPM day with the Penguin Racing Advanced School (where I teach). Even if you can't ride, stop on by and say hello! It is always nice to meet people from the forum.

Honestly I was going to start my season April 22. Are you going to be back down I jersey anything throughout the season? I'd not I don't know how far NH is but I might be able to figure out a time to go up there for a track day if I can get some instructions

Not sure if there are any other NJ dates planned but will take a look. The NH track is about 5.5 hours from NJMP.

To give you an example of what I mean about tracks:

Summit Point is the closest track to me, yet I rarely go to it. They really don't seem to care about motorcycles. Maybe they have enough government contracts they don't really need us. Shenandoah circuit has a fair number of walls close to the track, and while they have made some improvement on Main, they still can't seem to keep the deer off the track.

IMO NCbike is the best learning track, simple and fun. VIR has the best facilities, multiple configurations, and is just plain fun. NJMP is somewhere in between, but is heavily used, and occasionally has some aggressive riders. I've never ridden NYST or PIR.

Holy shit... that is not why I wanna go to the track. I looked and ,NC bike and that seems like a really fun track. . . And fast. NJMP is the closest to me...and has alot of days so I'll most likely be there most of the summer. I would however like to branch out. Plus... I love to travel.

laguna seca and sears point

both have had world class events @ their venues

if you dont have the ability to entice some of the bigger racing organizations out there

just means your track is not up to par and needs some improvements
