Radar detector thread...

Anyone here running a radar detector? I have like a 15 year old Valentine One that I'm thinking about wiring into the bike. It seems like the technology has evolved drastically in 15 years so I'm wondering if it's pointless and I should be seeking out a new one. I'm annoyed with the dweeby bastard (Mike) at Valentine One as he refuses to upgrade V1s that come from outside the USA (way to limit your business, dork!) so I doubt I'll be looking at one of them again.

Anyway looking for advise, feedback and even rocks thrown my way (yes I have a couple of points on my license for riding with a dumbass girl).

Words well scripted, each sentence choking
Inaudible gag, blanket which suffocates

I have an escort from a couple years ago on a techmount. The most important thing will be getting the audible where you will hear it. It is hard to mount any visual where you will see it in time.

Cheers. I noted that - the mounts I've seen, either go from the bars or from the fuel tank and that is out of your view. I just played with the suction cup mount for the V1 and managed to get it to sit under the screen. Seems ok and it is clearly in view...think that will do for now. Of course I still need to wire it up. Last time I used it, it just went off all the time (falsies) so I might have to look into turning bands off. Seem to recall X band was the one all the bloody door openers use?!

PS: I love your signature. This is one of the shirts I wear regularly: https://www.shotdeadinthehead.com/fa...s-t-shirt.html

X band is old school for sure. K band is replacing X for door radar. K is found mostly in local law enforcement and on the signs monitoring speed. Ka is definitely LEO. My escort learns by gps so after 3 trips it will ignore false alarms.

My techmount mounts to the fork of choosing. I have it above the triple tree because I can't get it to clear everything below it.

I had my visual at the very top of my windscreen and it didn't work for me. The audible is where it is at. Think about in a car where the detector is in view and the distractions are less I always hear it way before I see it.

Thank you about the signature. My 6 is just easier to get through the turns. My 10 feels like it is more work to get through the turns, but on the straights it is game over.

Cool. I'll kill X and have a play with K/Ka. Will see how the windscreen thing goes. Probably need to try the audio. Think it has a earphone plug...
