What's up guys, newbie to the forum and also to the streets.. Been an MX rider for yrs and finally got my first sport bike!! Super excited.. Bought an '06 zx6r with 13,000 miles for 2500$.. I've put around 40 miles on it and it seems to run perfect from what I can tell for never being on a sport bike.. Flushed all fluids and fresh Mobil 1 10-40 synthetic motorcycle oil and K&N filter.. Bike is super clean and was a 2 owner bike and the guy said he was meticulous on maintenance.. He said there was only 1000 miles on oil but I changed it for my own sake.. I look forward to learning some new things on here and also meeting some new friends.. One ? I have is that I live in pa and all my bike has is the integrated turn signals in the tail light.. Pa inspection law says I need turn signals 4" from my plate and plate light.. I have a stock exhaust and need some ideas on what to get for a decent priced fender eliminator seeing how I blew most of my was on the bike itself.. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated..

Nice bike and nice deal!

For the inspection, do the blinkers have to be permanent or can they be temporary? Cause if its temporary I was thinking u could make some kinda bullshit outta popsicle sticks and an LED strip.

Thanks and temporary I would think, I thought about DIY just to get a sticker on it so I could take it back off and keep the clean look.. I'll have to look into it more..

I'm guessing your plate is tucked up against the front of the swingarm, hidden by the tire?

The bottom of the muffler has the brackets to mount the plate, and the blinkers.... If you want to keep your plate where I think it is (and that's likely to be a problem with the inspection), you could easily mount some flat stock to the bracket to get the spacing you need for blinkers. If you use LED, and run them in parallel to what is in the sequential, they'd operate at the same rate of blinking.

You could also just mount some LED to the back side of the passenger foot peg brackets...

Actually I already made a diy bracket and mounted it to the exhaust.. 2 small stainless corner brackets and a small piece of flat stock and it looks fine, my main concern is the lights and how to wire them. I'm assuming I can just run a longer flat stock out Past my plate and mount 2 lights to that but still need to figure out my wiring...

If you have a multi meter, it shouldn't take too long to figure out what wires you need to 'grab' to get the Voltage where you need it to run the signals by the plate.

The wires feeding the aftermarket tail light assembly will show a change in voltage when you are on the correct pair for either 'left' or 'right'. When you get a change in Voltage from zero to +12 VDC, the red lead will be on the positive trace, and the black will be on the negative. If you go from zero to -12 VDC, you have the leads backwards.

Gotcha, thanks for the input.. I'm gonna see what I can come up with this weekend.. I'll post pics, its just temporary to get a sticker on it but I think when I have the extra cash I'll get nice clean fender eliminator.. It makes me nervous that the cars behind me can't tell the difference between left and right in my current tail light..

First welcome to the forum.
Second great deal.
Third, do some track days. LOL. Learn what your bike can do, and improve what you can.

I would be tempted to add the turn signals to your tag bracket. Tap the integrated turn signal lines.
That will give you duel left and right.
Would use LED turn signals to keep the current draw low.

Then tap into the constant line going to the running lights for my plate light?? Sounds fairly simple and cheap, I'm not a total dumbass, I do some electrical and construction for work but this is a new thing for me, lol.. I'm gonna give something a go this weekend, as soon as it passes I'm taking it off. A few guys told me they don't even bother with inspection on their bikes?? Does anyone else just skate around illegally??
