06 636, clean, dusty, I'm trying not to buy it.

There's a blue 2006 ZX6R near me, guy is including new filter, oil for change, rad fluid, new plugs. I can pick it up for 2200. Its dusty from his garage but pristine condition.

I feel like I should buy this, clean it up, and sell it when the sun comes out.

Any reason not to?

If it runs NOW. And is in good shape no.

But it could be a crap shoot. Didn't mention the miles.

What's blue book, and last couple sold on eBay.

I would without thinking twice honestly. I got my 07 for 2100 and it's definitely not pristine.

I found the catch. No title. That means resale market will be a LOT smaller.

Only if you can get the original guy whose name is on the title to sign off I think.

The $64 question..... will the guy give you the correct VIN#, so you can find out who legally owns the bike..... That's the title search.

You will find out if it was claimed stolen, etc.

Just to be clear, if you buy stolen property and try to register it the legal owner takes possession and you are out whatever money you have in the process. Receiving stolen goods. Same thing as trying to pass counterfeit money.

I paid way more then that for my track bike, BUT do have a title.

I would have to see the bike, get a picture of the title then call the police to have it checked for being stolen.

Would I LOVE a great deal on a track bike, oh yes.
BUT I would not do so supporting it being stolen.

IF the title is lost, the original owner can request another. Takes a couple of weeks.
Get a bill of sale from the owner (get picture of there drives license ) you can do a mechanics lien on it can. That runs about $150 in my state. You have to place a ad in the newspaper and wait plus the paperwork.

Should be able to make a bill of sale, sign it, have he seller sign it, and use it as proof of legal purchase for the DMV to issue a new title. Check with the police that it's not stolen first tho.

Dont know about your state, but in NC its technically illegal to sell a vehicle without a title in the seller's name. And the sale isnt binding unless the title is signed over and notarized to the buyer.

N.C. has some of the toughest title laws.
Bought my Tiger from someone there. He worked at a car dealership and they have a person that does just titles.
If the I's are not dotted properly the title won't be issued.
