So today there was a demo ride in San Antonio Texas, and you know, this is my second demo ride that I have been to, and in general I get the feeling that they are not put together very well. There was little direction to who rides what, a short list of pens for people to use etc.
So I showed up on time, and got on the this http://www.ducati.com/cms-web/upl/Me...1_1067x600.jpg
and when I got on it, some fellow that works there asked me,
" how long have you been riding " (as I was putting on my gloves and helmet because people had turned on some demo bikes to head out) -Ducati D-Head
"for about two years" -me
"oh ok, yeah well what do you ride?" -Ducati D-Head
"A zx6r 14'"-me
"ok well, i just want to let you know, that , this thing, is a Rocket..." Ducati D-Head
" yeah ok cool man thanks" -me
"and there is no shame in back off from riding a bike like this if you think you can't handle it" Ducati D-Head
(and at this point I am thinking, ok guy, get over your Brand, this bike has a more on the top compared to mine and a little more in the mid but nothing like a zx10 or 1199 etc)
"Well I'm sure Ill be fine, I've ridden 1199 before so this cant be like that" -me
"ok just thought I'd let ya know"-Ducati D-Head
After all that I was a little disappointed with it, and if I had to pick a bike right now all over again, it would be zx6r.
I mean, it was smoother than my friends 1199, and sounded better i think too and cooked my man parts... IT just gets me...Your bike matters, but at the end of the day its the rider who matters more.
I mean my last track day, I was passing on Ducati left & right, and they have much bigger engines, heh.
"its like oh there is a new Ducati coming out, oh cool they added another 50-100cc...." thats all they do, soon they will move to a different motor or maybe they wont?
