Thanks for all the replys
And I an a but worried about if I have the power I will abuse it.
I feel like if I start off at the point where I wish I had just a little but more power. It would force me to learn proper technique and not rely on power to get me out of every poor corner I make.
And roads I plan on driving are all mountain twisties. I live just an hour or two south of Yosemite national park. And so it's like 2 traffic lights with 3 way traffic
Won't be taking it into Fresno I'm way more confident.

And the bike I actually settle on is depended on what's for at the time I have cash in hand.

For all those who responded about starting on a zx6r or bikes like it. What was it like?
what surprised you about the bike?. Pros and cons of your decision? Would you do it again?
If your kids had the exact experience as you. Would you be ok with the doing the same thing?
And overall how do the bikes ride and Handle from the new rider perspective

I say ninja 250 as well , a 600 supersport don't forgive much at all , but if your dead set on the 600 , and you wanna cut power they do make restrictors For them here they use them in mini sprint racing for the kid classes here's a good place to start

FTZ Performance Racing Products Home Page R6 600RR 636 Micro Sprint racing TRX250r Lt250r Lt500r

Also the 08+ gsxr has a mode selecter to cut power 400-500-600cc settings I went from my 250 the gixxer and the selector made for a good transition , personally the gixxer didn't impress me as far as handling and was a squid magnet but I still say walk before you run 250 first

That Gixxer mode thing sounds like it would be perfect. And like I said, im not opposed to the 250 option flat out. But Im not going to actively seek it out. I did look into them. But the 250r is 3200, and the zx6r, the guy would take 3k. To me the ninja would be a better deal. And I wouldn't haven't to try to sell it later.
That and I have a tendency to not sell my things. Cuz I never think im done with them

I took a look into that link. But count find anything about restrictor plates.

if you're willing to go the restrictor plate route, make sure you force yourself to follow through with it. This way you'll have a nice setup with better suspension and definitely better engine. Play restricted for a while then let her loose!

How sensitive are the throttles to input?

Iv tried looking into the restrictor plates. And my idea was buying those 33hp kits from over the pond. and just making the holes bigger as I go. But at like 300$ or so. That's kinda ridiculous. Looked for dimensions, but every other person who asked for them gets attacked because its not the legal way. And Will putting a washer to restrict air be the way to go. Being its fuel injected. Will the ECU compensate so it dont run rich? would anything else need adjustment?

with those restrictor kits ....at work wee fit a fair few ......dont bother with the washers/restrictor plates on to the air intakes .....waiste of time .....just end up choking the shit out of your engine
the only thing we fit to them is the throttle stop .....just goes onto your throttle linkage so you cant open it up the full way......
when the police pull these guys over with restricted licences they allways check the throttle twist grip and the certificate sticker stuck on the frame in the uk
but yeah if you was abit worried its easy just make up a throttle stop on your throttle linkage

Thanks mate
Pretty much that's what I've been seeking.
I know how carb tuning works.
But never could find out if a fi bike was more or less complicated.
If throttle stop gets me where I need. Sounds like a simple solution. I just kept assuming it was something more involved.
