Question Looking for first bike

Hello all. Not new to this forum, as I spend a lot of time reading. But never posting.
So here goes my first. And sorry its so long.

Im looking to get my first bike. And pretty much like every other younger guy. I want a sport bike.
Im looking for a 05 or newer. And really am eyeing either a Ninja Zx6r, Cbr600rr, Buell xb9, SV650s, ect. Cost over value is the main deciding factor.
Meaning if I see a Sv650 (really low on my want list) to be a much better deal then the Buell or ninja. I prob wont pass it up.
But to be honest I think there is a local 05 ZX6r with my name on it. Just like any other new 23 year old rider right? Now before someone jumps down my throat for wanting a 600cc monster. Allow me to explain.

I am an experienced mountain biker. Quad rider, Clean driving record in my 96 eclipse GSX. And am absolutely in love with my kawi JS 550 stand up ski. And am a pretty competent rider. So the way I see it. Separately I have the skills required to ride a sportbike. Understanding on how bikes physically work and ride, Clutch and throttle from riding quads, control enough to not be really dumb in my uber fast car. And if anyone has ridden a stand up, you know just how on the ball you gotta be with your inner ear and CG.
But on motorcycles themselves. I have very little experience (rode my dads 83 Honda Goldwing Interstate a bit when I was a younger. And it is absolutely not a bike Id like to ride, even to learn on. And some Dirt bikes a handful of times)

So to be frank. I have no idea how I will ACTUALLY handle such a powerful and possibly sensitive machine, working all my separately acquired experiences together that is.
So what i'm looking for is advice on how one would safely limit the power of the 6r without hurting the bike. Iv done hours and hours of research. And I thought it would be pretty straight cut seeing that in the UK. New riders are limited to 33hp for the first two years or so. The problem is, every single thread turns into a legality debate. About the bike needing a certification from the dealership and what not. So no real info is ever present.
Iv looked into what people do to DE-restrict their bikes and try to work backwards. But Im unsure if the same methods of restricting a carb can be applied to a fuel injected bike.

So short version is, I want to know to drop the power down to about 50 hp or there about till I gain the experience required for a bike of that caliber, Or if possible, start at 50, then 65, 75, 90 ect. Build my way up to the 100hp

I know the arguments. But I have really have no interest in getting a a small trainer bike like the cbr250. UNLESS!! I find a smoking deal, like ridiculously on fire. But I dont see that happening. So lets just pretend that i bought this bike.

What would I need to do to drop the power down. And then bring it up when I feel Im ready

Sorry for such a long post. Im hoping that giving some thoughts and background will avoid the "you shouldn't buy a 600" flaming

I would get the ninja or cbr for sure !!!!

As far as limiting the hp... This does not make sense to me ...just dont twist the throttle past where you want to go its not gonna jump out from underneath you dude if you have experience using a clutch witch you have plenty of experience with !!!!!!

You are gonna be one happy camper my friend

If you don't want 600 supersport power right out the chute man, I'd say buy a Katana 600.

It's tamer, super reliable, comfy & CHEAP! Not only the bike, but insurance is going to be a lot less too. It's still PLENTY sporty, just not an outright race machine with blinkers. Something to think about.

& yes. I know they're ugly. I had one. Still loved that bike!

Once you're used to the approximately 80 HP that puts down, you could move up.

I don't have any advice on how to restrict a 600 supersport. I've heard something about restrictor plates?

Or just buy whatever you want & just don't use all the gas. You sound pretty sensible & would hopefully know when you're about to get in over your head with that kind of power.

Mate if I was you..... SV650 ! Much better/easier learner bike... With your experience, you'd carve up on one of these and pick it up so much faster then a ZX6 or any other 600 for that matter...

I dare anyone to challenge me by saying that a zx6 is easier to learn then an SV650....

PROS -
* No fairings to worry about
* Bomb proof motor
* Easy in corners
* Good torque and
* Sound great (VTwin )

Thanks for the replies!
Iv tried looking into the restrictor plates. And my idea was buying those 33hp kits from over the pond. and just making the holes bigger as I go. But at like 300$ or so. That's kinda ridiculous. Looked for dimensions, but every other person who asked for them gets attacked because its not the legal way. And Will putting a washer to restrict air be the way to go. Being its fuel injected. Will the ECU compensate so it dont run rich? would anything else need adjustment?

And one of the points I forgot to add was buying a bike to learn just seems silly. If im just going to sell it again to buy what I really want. Not that buying a learner bike is silly. But buying it with no intention of keeping it is. Why not skip that middle bike, and tone the power down. Hence why I was looking at the cbrs, and buells. Great reliability track record. And I plan on having it till it dies.

And as a side note. Its also to ease my parents quams.

I under stand the dont twist the throttle to far thing. But you know.. $#!^ happens. Highsiding in a major concern of mine. Going through a corner and oops. To much.

I sat on the katana 750, and it was pretty comfortable. But I do like the aggressive posture. For my size and shape (5'7 140 lbs) The Buell was the most comfortable, if I remember correctly. But the zx was up there too. But im so gd short im always on my tiptoes.

There is a lot of throttle to work with.. I started on my 2011 zx6 as my first streetbike. I have quad and dirt bike experience and the zx6 came pretty naturally. As long as you respect the bike you will be fine.

I would go out on a limb and say you already have the right mindset.. Most guys laugh at the thought of a 600 and automatically say its not enough bike..

You show me your ready because you know what your getting into

That's fair, I see your logic... Respect the throttle and take it easy... Hopefully you wont make the same mistake that 90% of people make at some point in their beginner yrs and drop it....

If you're not too keen on the SV... Just grab the Qwaka.. They are awesome bikes

you're nuking it bro, so as long as your responsible you don't need much experience to start on a 600.
