I think that some mods would be good for banning people but not making this forum a complete dead zone. Lets be honest, this place is a mad house and that is what makes it great to come back to and gives us laughs. We all enjoy bashing some people time to time, but it should not get out of hand like it was yesterday with whats his name and his gsxr 750 thread.

I don't beleave its stupid chaotic, But a few mods would help.
I rather like the freedom of this forum. Its a friendly place, Im a member of kawiforums too,
& Im not a fan of the total seggregation they have there, Nor the policing & flaming that gos on there.

Iv been very active on this forum, Turn this into another kawiforums, & I'll go elsewhere.

create a section for MOD DECISION MAKING. if a mod has a proposal, post a yes/no poll thread in that section explaining the proposal. allow us to vote on it. decide based on our voting.

so if you want to ban a member, post a thread in the MOD section saying "Ban *insert member name*? then insert poll so we can vote.

This. I like the idea of mods, but I like the idea of a well formed democracy better. General polls for motions and banning sounds like a good idea to me. Only way it works is if the actions actually get carried out in a timely manner though.

Yes, this place has needed mods for a long time. This place has gone from the best forum I was on to one of the worst. I know people want different things from a forum and I joined a motorcycle forum to talk about bikes, but the amount of thread jacking talking about BS I see is unbelievable, I don't want to have to sift through pages of BS when someone asks a question to see whats already been said. I also don't like some of the abuse people get for asking a common question, there is no need for the first ten or so reply's to a thread about tyres or oil to be giving them shit for not using the search function, most of the time they are new members and 9 out of 10 times they don't come back. There are a few other little niggling issues such as not being able to deal with trolls effectively, but if things don't change I know I won't be hanging around much longer.

I say no to a lot of moderation, but keep the trolls away. I think Powergroove has a wealth of information and OND is a good one for this site as a moderator. Theres a couple more on here that would be good, but lets get this over with first on whether it will be moderated or not.

Anyhow, some moderation, but no to the point where it isnt fun anymore.

tired of the trolls.. but if we are going to pick some, we need to pick good mods, who wont abuse that privilege and will ban threads, delete topics, etc for little or no reason.

Yes we need some mods that come around regularly. Fixing thread titles, moving misplaced threads, and other general housekeeping items. Mod nazi's are not good however. I think my local bike forum has it right, the admins and mods act like regular post whores and just keep things in line if they get too off kilter.

Guys, I want to be extremely clear here: I'm not interested in turning this into a Police State! If there's one thing I hate as an Administrator, it's OVER-MODERATION! Every site has it's own flavor, and the last thing I want to see is for that to change for ANY reason.

At the same time, I've already heard many references to rampant thread-jacking, trolling, flaming and just general bullshit that has diminished the interest of many members...even some senior members who have been mentioned as possible mods! A good mod team knows where the lines are drawn (pretty far out there, if it's up to me), and won't change the nature of what makes this place what it is.

Just want that out there for you to consider.

A couple more mods wouldn't hurt

Edit: if more mods are selected then they should be one of the senior forum members

This is exactly the mindset that has chased off all of our previous veteran members.

What you are realistically going to see is that half of the forum won't support mods because when they came around it was already a free-for all and half of them are part of the problem.

The other half of the forum, the veterans, like myself, Raized, Steve and a few others (we are talking more than 2 years ago) are going to be in support of mods because we knew this place when it was moderated and useful. I never new this forum to be a police state. I never new this forum to be a place where people came on and were disrespected by rampant threadjacking and bullshit until the change of ownership took place. What it was, was a place where there were a few moderators, and an administrator who were all active, knowledgeable and still had a sense of humor. It took quite a bit to get banned.

Honestly, I recognize that there are cultural changes that take place. It is possible that what this forum IS is a result of the new generation of riders and that mentality, if that is the case then I can respect any changes that come about but it doesn't mean that I will stay and participate. Most of the folks that I respect on here are friends of mine on Facebook or in real life so I really don't need anything from here but I would LIKE to see it restored.

I'm not a fan of banning people, but the place has been in DIRE need of someone to lock threads when they get ouf of hand or to move and sticky valuable threads. Maybe someone to open up a new forum that way it can keep things running smoothly and on-topic... and accommodating to the diversity that comes about.

I would't even know where to begin but I will say that I've seen this place moderated and NOT moderated and I firmly believe that it can be moderated without being this tyrannical state that everyone fears it will.

its unbelievable isn't it.. how things change so quick and people tend to go crazy over a question thats been asked before. You are correct its been bad especially with the immaturity that surrounds this forum now. People who are supposedly fathers or a lot older in general, who get lost in the nonsense and make themselves look bad over some irrelevant issue. Its pretty sad. But yes you are correct on every point mentioned.
