Newbie intro and newbie questions

Good afternoon. My name is Nick, from virginia beach, and after stalking the boards now, I've decided to post.

I have a 2012 zx6r. So far, I have a few parts:
-Jardine GP1 slip-on(I've heard the stories, read a lot)
-GB racing clutch, alternator, and timing covers
-ASV shorty levers
-Shogun frame sliders, Axel sliders, and swingarm spools
-(forgot brand name) integrated tail light
-lowered 1/2 inch in the rear due to my lack of height, with a dogbone from when i bought her.

My questions:

My gp1 exhaust. I know its not looked at very favorably by anyone, but it was a gift and albeit loud as heck, I still enjoy the look. What I was wondering was - am I putting my engine in danger by running a straight pipe from the header without a tune? A lot of posts say yes, a lot say no. I've also read some outrageous(possibly true) posts stating that exhaust valves can be bent by cool air moving through the short exhaust and making the valves brittle.

With the tune question, what would be my best option for someone not super mechanically inclined as I've read that power commanders require the drilling of a new o2 bung to fully be utilized. And, where in the world can I find these maps?

I pride myself on simple, hard to notice builds with my cars, and am diving into the motorcycle world with the same mentality. Thank you for taking the time to read, and potentially answer. I hope i can be a productive member of the forum and community eventually. Take care.

You will not damage your engine. I ran a short pipe off the header for over 6k miles with no tune.

For a tuner, PC or other brand, you do not have to drill an O2 bung unless you want the auto tuner. The typical setup does not include this. It just plugs inline with the injectors. Canned maps can be found online on their website. For a tuner however, I would recommend a Bazzaz, it is the competing brand and much better. I used both so I have a good perspective.

Lastly Welcome mate

Welcome to the posting side of the forum lol.

I take a vacation down to Sandbridge around the end of July with my dad's family every year, it's absolutely beautiful down there
