TLDR; ninja 250>buddy crashes bike>zx6r>track addict
About myself...always wanted to ride a motorcycle but never had the chance/parents thought it was dangerous and would not let me. My buddy and I always talked about getting our licenses but never got to it and kept procrastinating. Fast forward to 2 years ago we decided to sign up for the course that summer. Our deal was to either sign up and complete the written test and motorcycle course that summer or we were never able to do it again (that wasn't going to stop us but was just something to force us to do it).
Once we had passed the course with flying colours I went out and picked up a used ninja 250. Boy was that thing fun. You could pin it all the way and be totally fine. I rode every day after work just to ride. With no destination I would just ride and explore the small city I live in. Then came our harsh winters and it was time for storage. You ever just feel the itch to ride? That was happening almost everyday. That is when I began looking at other bikes and thinking about purchasing a new one. Ducati 899? Honda CBR 600? Indian Scout? Yamaha R6? Kawasaki ZX6R? I spent endless hours researching these bikes in hopes of purchasing one once I had enough money.
Once spring hit I was out in full force riding again. One day my buddy and I were talking (one I did the course with) and saying he needs to buy and bike so we can go riding together. He agrees and tells me that he's going to be rusty as he hasn't been on a bike since we did the course. Being the good friend I am I tell him to get on my bike so he can ride around in the parking lot to get familiar with a bike again. He's starting off slow but doing fine. I go to sit down and check my phone and I hear a crash...I look up and see my buddy and bike on the ground. I immediately go check on my friend and make sure he's ok. He was only going about 30 km/hr so all he got was a scraped knee (had all his gear on but was riding in jeans). Bike had a cracked fender and a bent shifter lever, nothing too serious, bike works perfectly fine. About a week later he buys my bike off me for what I paid as he felt bad and I go on to purchase a brand new 2015 ZX6R 30th anniversary edition!
I actually regret selling the ninja 250 just because it was so flickable and you could do whatever you wanted with it. But it has been about a year since I've had the zx6r and I'm loving it! Also got the chance to go to our local track this past weekend and it was awesome. Definitely has me addicted and I'll be back there again next month to do the advanced riding school!
