New To ZX6R life

Just recently got a '13 ZX6R, and super excited about it. Coming up on my 4th year riding, just have a bigger bike now. Hope to learn from a lot of you guys/girls on this forum and maybe have some cheap laughs.

Welcome and tell us more.

Without photos I'm left to my imagination, and I can imagine good and bad. :-)

Felixthecat-haha, it's gonna go at some point when funds get better. Until then I'll have to bare the looks. It does have a decent note to it though.

Will say, if you guys have any tips for a new 600cc rider please fill free to chime in. It feels like a huge upgrade from my '13 Ninja 300. (Did have prior experience on a 2007 CBR1000RR, for about 300 miles. If that counts at all, haha). I'll basically use this mean machine for commuting and leisure trips.

Welcome. Glad to hear you are working up to a 600 instead of jumping right in. I'm guessing you completed 3 full seasons of riding, on the 300? If you don't mind me asking, how many miles did you put on that bike in that time?

I'm sure the 600 is a significant increase in almost every category you can think of, compared to the 300..... what stands out most for you right now?

"Basic stuff fellas. Use your head for something other than to break your next fall."

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

I'm glad I went the route of getting a lightweight cc starter bike instead of jumping straight into a 600/1000cc bike. The 300 kept me safe and made me a more conscience rider. It had roughly 4000 miles on my 3 seasons of riding, when I traded it in. I know I could have definitely kept that 300 to refine more of my skills. But, I ended up taking the zx6r over my 300 simply, because I plan on keeping the zx6r much longer than the 300.

What I really love about the zx6r is that its almost as light as the 300 plus the power. I hope the zx6r is just as snappy as the 300 with turns, couldn't really run the bike when I got it (long drive home, doctors appt. and weather). I found myself having to build momentum to pass cars on the interstate/highway on the 300 and put me in some interesting unsafe situations. So the power will definitely help with some of the issues the 300 couldn't help me with.

First welcome to the forum.
Second looking forward to loads of pictures in the mountains with your bike. Loved riding out there.
Lastly, I'm a huge supporter of track days..
Check these folks out I'm sure they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Doing a track day,, which is NOT racing and covered by most insurance since it's NOT a timed event and training. Training you could use by moving up the CC's.
Most track day events have coach's and are structured for the novice promoting you up once it's safe for you and others.

It's a blast,, you will learn a lot promise and no speed limits, cagers etc..
