I'm glad I went the route of getting a lightweight cc starter bike instead of jumping straight into a 600/1000cc bike. The 300 kept me safe and made me a more conscience rider. It had roughly 4000 miles on my 3 seasons of riding, when I traded it in. I know I could have definitely kept that 300 to refine more of my skills. But, I ended up taking the zx6r over my 300 simply, because I plan on keeping the zx6r much longer than the 300.
What I really love about the zx6r is that its almost as light as the 300 plus the power. I hope the zx6r is just as snappy as the 300 with turns, couldn't really run the bike when I got it (long drive home, doctors appt. and weather). I found myself having to build momentum to pass cars on the interstate/highway on the 300 and put me in some interesting unsafe situations. So the power will definitely help with some of the issues the 300 couldn't help me with.
