It's a little counter intuitive but because the corners are so stop and go Hallett is a liter bike track.

Ehh...I kinda disagree with that. Lap record on a 1000 is 1:14 something and on a 600 is a 1:15 something. Anytime you have only 1 second difference between those classes, I don't consider that track to be a power track. For example, at Road America, the difference is about 6 seconds between 1000s and 600s.

Hallett only has a couple of turns that I'd consider slow stop-and-go types (2 and 9). The rest are quite "flowy" (not really a word I know).

I'm from the San Francisco area and have been on a Honda CBR500R for my first bike and am just about to log 15,000 miles. Mom and dad still aren't thrilled but I'm having the time of my life. Unfortunately, I've been looking for 7th gear and a little bit more from my 500R for a while; I think I'm about ready to plunk down some money for a ZX-6R but will still keep my 1st bike. Call me sentimental!

First order of business - What should I be expecting to pay OTD for a 2015 or 2016 that's new? I spoke to 2 dealerships today and OTD with taxes, title, docs, fees, etc is $12K. How is that? Should I wait a couple more months?

Thanks for the warm welcome, tips, advice, humor (nothing offends and there's nothing you can take too far!), and information.

First of all, welcome to the forum! And let me just say that you have made a wise choice to come over to the Kawi side of the woods. There is a lot of really helpful information in this thread so I'll only add a few extra cents.

If you can buy now, this would be a good time to do so. Many dealers are trying to ditch the last couple of years stock so you could probably end up with a pretty sweet deal on a new bike if you're willing to buy a model from last year or the year before. I did that with my XT250 earlier this year and wound up saving quite a bit. I am now in the process of working out a similar deal with an FZ-09 (although I'm also shopping for a 4x4 si we'll see which one happens first, lol).

No offense to our local sales dude, but I would definitely steer clear of Bakersfield. They are an awesome staff of really cool guys, but they never end up with much wiggle room by comparison to other dealers in other areas. But, if you're willing to travel, that might be a good thing. Depending on how sweet the deal is.

Either way, keep us posted on how it turns out!

You want one?
