After 3 years, I'm coming back.

Hello all. Wisconsinite here. Sold my 650r 3 years ago to pay for the academy. Buying a 2017 zx6r now as I made myself wait until it was a "smart" decision. Looking for opinions on a full exhaust. Youtube just doesn't do justice. Leaning towards TB black series or Muzzy. I know these will all be opinions, just want to hear about experiences. Planning on doing a PC as well, but curious if, with all the pre loaded maps nowadays, will it require a dyno test afterwards? This will be my first ZX. Started with a 500, moved to a 650. 5 years riding experience. Thanks for any advice in advance all.

Akrapovic is great for our bikes, Yoshimura R-77 if you can still get it, Leo Vince is fantastic too! And I believe MFChop has the Full Hindle Exhaust on it and that is too bang for buck exhaust with good looks too. Each one will drop significant weight off the bike and let her rip too! Preloaded maps work alright getting it dyno'd will be best!

I own the R77 which came with my bike and with it full dynod from previous owner put out great hp(hp is extremely relative to your area and climate and knowledgeable dyno people)

Oh and reading your name and then reading you sold your bike to join the academy is awesome! I'm doing something similar to you but I decided to finish my A.A before I try and go in as a recruit over here in CA

Personally, I'd love to know how much gain could be had with a pc5 on the OEM exhaust..... quiet, good.

Awesome. Best of luck to you. Been on for 3 years and love the job. I've checked some online videos of the Akrapov and liked what I heard. The M4 sounded good too. Not going to skimp on these upgrades. I made myself behave for this long, I think I've earned it. Haha. Eh, whom I kidding.... I'll be dead in a week... I've tested the Daytona 675 and an 08 ZX6. Anxious to ride the 636. Big step up from the 650.

Akrapovic is one of the best companies to buy an exhaust from if you are looking for quality and performance. M4 is in the middle of the pact in my opinion. Buy whichever one you love the most is what I would really say!

On the 650, I was told it was 4-6. But the stock exhausts on Kawi's are just so quiet imo. I'm guessing the 636 is no different. I'm also reading that a slip on may be better due to full exhausts only increasing the top out and not really bumping up the speed in the band. I won't be using it at the track much, if ever. Guess I'll just do more research. I've got some time... Thanks WI winter....

10-4. Gonna look more into the brand now. You aren't the first to classify the M4 like that. And I've heard good things about Akropov. Two Bros seems to be popular around here too.

I run an M4 on mine because at the time it made the best power (not all companies had an offering for this bike at the time.). That said, I will be moving to a Hindle exhaust this spring as it is quieter and it makes better power.

If a Hindle interests you, let me know and I will see what I can do for you.

Good luck and enjoy the new bike!

I agree with this! I'd also throw SC Project exhaust in the mix, although I don't think they make a full system for the zx6r, only slip-on. Not sure. Akrapovic and SC Project are the two main exhausts used on GP bikes, so you know they're good stuff!

Welcome back!

Won't have much luck finding a new Muzzy exhaust since Rob Muzzy retired and closed up shop :/

Every SC projects pipe I have ever seen ( mostly on R1s) look like a straight pipe.

I actually realized that after I posted. I had one for my 650 and thought the sound was perfect. Too bad they aren't made anymore. But I'm really looking at akro now. I did see a youtube vid with SC, Hindle and LV. Really wish I could hear the sounds in person. Not looking for something too annoyingly loud. But I'll never forget riding my "lawnmower level volume" stock 650 next to a friends TT600 with a slip on. Yeah, my bike disappeared. My girlfriend at the time made fun of me forever. And I quote, "How come I couldn't hear your bike anymore?".....

As a Muzzy guy for over 2 decades I was pretty bummed to have seen them close up shop.

Yeah. I really liked the sound. But I've narrowed down the search to Akrapov and LV. Akra would be the moto 2 I think it was. Not the megaphone. I haven't heard a lot of comments regarding Two Bros lately. Have they gone downhill, or is it just coincidence? Used to hear great thing about them all the time. Ugh, March cannot come soon enough. I guess I can start buying gear now to pass the time. Have a brand new ICON jacket. Need new gloves and I'm buying a helmet with a self dimming visor if I can find one. Hate switching out visors. A buddy just hit a deer on the highway, and his gear saved his ass. I used to be the idiot riding in shorts, flip flops and no helmet. Yup, stupid. So any advice on helmets, etc, I'm all ears. (Well, eyes technically). Not gonna lie, definitely gonna need the practice. Already getting jittery about leaning into turns more and more. My tires will be all chicken strips baby. Lol.
