Cool New Owner in Northern Virginia!

Hey guys, long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I just picked up a brand new 2016 ZX6R in Metallic Matte Carbon Gray / Flat Ebony! This is my second bike, I have only been riding for 6-months, and my first bike is a 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 in Raven Black, which will be going to a new owner this week.

I always wanted a Ninja ZX6R, but due to people telling me not to start off with a Supersport, I got the Yamaha. I didn't want to start off with a 250-300cc bike either, because I know I would get bored with it in less than a month. The FZ-07 has been great, and is very easy to ride. I threw a bunch of parts on the bike, thinking I would be riding it for atleast a year, but 6-months later, I was ready for what I always wanted - The NINJA ZX6R

I bought the Ninja from a dealer that is an hour away from home, which made me have to ride the bike home in freezing temps! It was all worth it in the end. This thing is a rocket!

I have already installed OES Frame/Fork/Spool Sliders, and have the Motodynamic Fender Eliminator waiting to be installed. I plan on added the Motodynamic Integrated Taillight as well. I will be replacing the windscreen for something that is darker, and has better wind protection. I'm leaning PUIG Race Screen, in either Dark Smoke, Black, or "Carbon Fiber".

I would like to get a slip-on exhaust on the bike ASAP, but I am torn with all the options out there. My first choice was the M4 GP Shorty, but after doing some reading, I am hearing that people were getting annoyed with how loud it is at highway speeds. Now, I'm not allergic to "LOUD", as the Akrapovic No-baffle Full Exhaust on my Yamaha sounds like a Muscle Car, but I am open to suggestions!!

I would also love to hear what your favorite mods are on the 2013-2017 ZX6R.

Thanks!!!

Hello and welcome!

Congrats on the new bike, she is beautiful!

I love the sound of the M4 GP on my 2009! Here is a video I made after I installed it:

If you would rather go with an Akrapovic (titanium) and link pipe, I would be willing to sell mine (mint condition).

Thanks for the video, that sounds great! I still prefer the looks of the Black M4GP over the Akra. I think M4GP will be the one for me.

Welcome. Can't help with mods too much -- about the only thing I'd suggest that you haven't mentioned is braided brake lines to improve feel. Enjoy.

Just remember to leave a little bit in reserve, and enough room to make a change if you need to.

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

This bike stops on a dime compared to my FZ07, but Kawasaki green SS brake lines are def. on my to-do list!!

I went on a little shopping-spree last night and ordered the following;
M4 GP Slip-on Exhaust in Ceramic Black - I really wanted a Racefit, but the price being double that of the M4 made me go that route. I really want to get rid of this huge suitcase and get some sound out of the Ninja. May change it out later down the road.
Motodynamic Integrated Smoked Taillight/Harness/Relay - To match the Motodynamic Fender Eliminator that is sitting in my house waiting to be installed.
Dowco WeatherAll Plus Sport-bike Cover - The bikes sit outside, and the cheap Nelson Rigg Deluxe I have now barely covers the rear wheel/chain.

Congrats on the new bike man. The M4 GP sounds damn good, but it is way louder in person than it is in all the videos. I have mine with the silencer removed, but I usually wear ear plugs to block the wind noise...so that helps. Does yours come with the silencer?

That's what I'm hearing, but I like Loud!

I think it will be coming with a silencer baffle, but I guess I'll find out when it arrives on Friday.

Yes, it should come with the intermediate baffle installed. I took the baffle out of mine, and I love the sound!

The FZ-07 was great! Torque everywhere. It rides more like a supermoto with some power. After my clip-ons and rear-set, it was way more leaned forward, but nothing close to a supersport.
