Greetings from Cali

Hey everyone,

Just picked up a 2005 zx6r and thought I would get on here for support and general shinanigans.

I know you're probably all just in here to see pics so I will get them up as soon as possible. In the mean time, a little about the bike. It's a titanium 2005 zx6r. It has a muzzy slip on, power commander gpr stabilizer and some aftermarket rear sets (haven't figured out what brand yet.)

Before anyone says anything about gear. I wear leather pants and jacket, full gauntlets, full boots and a bell star when I ride. Not interested in paying in skin when my off finally happens.

Welcome. Glad to hear about the gear.

How many miles on the bike?

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

Thanks, there is just over 26k on the bike. I'm not sure if it's accurate though. I noticed on the ride home that the speedo seemed really high (my buddy was following me in his truck)

I think I'm going to invest in a speedo healer. I don't mind the more agressive gearing, just like my read outs to be accurate.

Minus one, plus two generally aligns the tachometer with actual ground speed (MPH), in sixth gear. 5k = 50, 6k = 60, etc.

If someone changed the final gearing, it'll be worth your time to ensure you have steel sprockets, and a quality chain....

Make sure the brake pads are OK, fresh fluid.... stopping well is the most important thing a bike can do.

Thanks for the heads up RJ. I'll give it a good look at tomorrow. I will be swapping out chain sprockets and all fluids in the next couple weeks.
The brakes grabbed really good. It already has the better Nissin calipers and steel brake lines.

The only problem the bike had while riding was if I got lazy and pulled the clutch in to coast to a stop instead of downshifting the bike would die. Never happened if I put in the effort and downshift ed like I knew I should have been though.

Bring the idle up to 1500 and see if you still have the same behaviour.

Greatest resource you can take from this site is a copy of the shop manual...... that's what brought me here, five years ago.

Good technical support, and an intelligent community.

Btw,

I'll bring the idle up and see. I noticed it idles around 1k-1.1k (the tach is kinda difficult to read)

Ok, I think there is a pic there. I'll add new ones tomorrow. This is just a quick one at my buddies when I got back.
