I Ride: ZX6R G1
Hi from the South of England

So I just picked up my Kawasaki ZX6R G1 today. I know what an invaluable resource forums can be when you own a car or bike so i thought i would introduce myself on here and have a bit of a browse.

I am from Sussex in the UK, I'm 25 and been riding for almost a year now. I ride everyday, come rain or shine but I think the ZX will be staying in the garage mostly when its wet. The bike needs a bit of work to get it sorted but i picked it up pretty cheap with only around 15000 miles on the clock. Ill get some pictures when the weather isn't crap, but the fairings are coming off next week. I think the cam tensioner has given up, there is an awful rattling sound coming from that area when it revs up beyond maybe 6k. Certainly not something i want to ignore so its staying put for now. Other than that a few cosmetic tweeks and I will be very happy.

Anyone local to me?

Welcome to the forum.

Get the manual, do all the fluid's.
Something anyone getting a new to them bike should do IMO.

Hi Mishy and welcome.

As you can see I'm a newbie to the forum as well I'm not far from you, I'm in kent. funnily enough my bike (a J1) is a bit of a work in progress as well.

If at first you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer

Thanks Tmac76!

After todays work, it appears a previous owner has fitted an incorrect cam chain tensioner. I hope it hasn't caused any damage, we will see when my replacement comes next week! Not often i buy something and have it in bits in the garage the next day but its the pit falls of buying used. Other than that the bike has definitely been dropped at either low speed or on the drive as there is fairing damage on the right side. The crash bung thread has been poorly re threaded by some numpty who didn't take the fairing off and missed the hole a few times drilling the frame... Still only minor concerns. If its all running sweet with the replacement tensioner i will get some pics up. right now it has no tank or right fairing!
