I Ride: ZX6R 2011 Trackbike
New Euro-Dude

So.. I'm new and from Belgium.

Sold the CBR600RR '04 trackbike a while ago and bought a ZX6R 2011 trackbike instead with approx 9000km on it.
Currently I have no street bike anymore.

Welcome. Curious as to which tracks you frequent?

"Basic stuff fellas. Use your head for something other than to break your next fall."

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

Mettet, Zolder, Croix-en-Ternois and offcourse Spa-Francorchamps
Maybe Assen or Zandvoort once in the future.

nice bike

Any advice/tips for Mettet? I'm booked for it April 8,9. Will be my first time there.
I was going to go Spa-Francorchamps later that month but when booking I saw this one and thought I'd try something different.

Also going Nurburgring for the free bike lap day, April 2.

1/ Be VERY careful in the first right hander. First 3 corners are left, right one is very tricky the first rounds of the session, especially in the morning with cold temps/tyres.
2/ You can cut the corckscrew over the curbs, be carefull without steering damper if you're doing that.
3/ The gravel traps are working fine
4/ Take the short/narrow line into the first corner, brake late into the corner. A lot of riders take the outside line, but that's the slower line.
5/ Dynamic dB measurement is done on the straight, keep left if you have a loud bike (never had any problems with the CBR), dB killer or original pipe is mandatory.
6/ Ice-cream truck at noon-break !!

If you want any more info, send me a PB or so.
Which organisation will you be riding with ?

Thanks, much appreciated.

1. I learned my cold tyres in Belgium lesson. I once crashed for no reason(suspect cold tyres were partially responsible, Dunlop d211's on the street. Ended up checking myself into Charleroi Ibis for a few days then the emergency dept!
Running s21's now - and will be with no tyre warmers!
2. I'll probably be going to slow for that situation to occur, only times I've felt the need for steering damper is passing the bumpy section of the Aragon bottom of the back straight. Was thinking about getting a damper sometime though.
3. I'll give that one a miss!
4. thanks.
5. yum!

I'm booked in with Bikers Days. DG sports. I have been on their Spa-Francorchamps event before through UK operator Nolimits. I found it well organised and run.

BikersDays is good, but more expensive. I go most of the time with Inter-Track on Mettet/Croix/Zolder and they offer cheaper prices. But with no lesser-service. Briefing can be done in english if you want.
They are also quite strict regarding behaviour on the track and in the paddock.
Pity they don't have Spa in their trackdays.

Going down because of a cold tire SUCKS. It happens all too often. I would never ride a Race tire on the street again. I also learned my lesson, forgot that I was on DOT race tires and rode off the edge of a cold front tire. Just not enough time to properly warm up a race tire. I am pretty impatient when it comes to putting the hammer down.

I didn't know about those operators, thanks.
Shame no Spa events with them, my plan this year was for a Spa event but the only one I could find is end of April and I ended up choosing Mettet instead when I went to book!

Yeah. That was pretty dumb of me.
I already knew they were unsafe. It didn't take me long to find that in cold weather on the roads even on the little 636 that the rear goes when I give it a bit and same on the front when braking slighty hard-ish.
My poor excuse for having them was that I was doing Southern Europe track days and the guys I was riding with and using those tyres use track only bikes and I purchased/fitted the tyres on one of those events.
It was only a slight lean that gave it up also!, I was a bit distracted from full riding focus at the time as the area is that good for scenery and bike roads.

1/ It's hardly a right hander....but a guy not far in front of me on a older gsxr managed to chuck it down on that one. first lap after lunch going real slow!
2/ nowhere like it, you really get a lot to choose from there. you really can throw the bike around that section!
3/ not yet experienced
5/ only done for the 1st 2 faster groups.
6/ Excellent selections!

next stop - have now booked in with inter-track for Frolembray June weekend.
