New '13 ZX6R Owner (SE Michigan)

Hi everyone!

Figured I would introduce myself after my recent purchase. I'm Eric, but everyone just calls me 'Winder. I've been riding for quite a number of years, but took the MSF and got my motorcycle endorsement nearly 6 years ago. Since then I was riding a 2009 Ninja 250. I didn't upgrade for quite some time since I was focused on knocking out student loans and assisting one of my family members financially after being diagnosed with leukemia (she's all better now though ).

Now that I was in a position to do so, I just bought a white 2013 ZX-6R (had to be white) as a 30th birthday present to myself! I found it back in February sitting in a PowerSports shop surprisingly almost untouched. It was in perfect condition and only 1208 miles. I bought it out the door for $8100 which I thought was a killer deal!

I've been riding it for a little over a month now and I am absolutely addicted to it. Figured I would jump on the forums and say hi!

Pics of the new ride:

And my old 250

Bravo, on the intro.

And congratulations on the purchase, and also for being the sort of stand up person the world could use a lot more of. Hopefully your example is followed by others.

Welcome. Nice bikes. Kudos for keeping the 250 for such a long time, I also kept my 300 because they're so much fun.

First of all good job for putting aside your own goals in order to first help a family member in need. May good karma come your way.

Congrats on the bike!! Love the black and white.

Yes, good karma is always needed in life. It pays to be kind and help others. Welcome. 2013+ Zx6r's are awesome. Easy bike to ride and good fast on. The rear shock is a little soft and can use some attention but the fork is pretty solid. If you ride hard, you could use upgraded suspension. But on the other hand, if you are just cruising you don't really need it.

Your example must be working......

I had to take my bike in to get the annual safety inspection done -- the shop I use is around 25 miles from my house, so my wife decided that I should do some additional shopping while I was out.

Once I am done with the inspection (no faults, 15 minutes and $12 later), I have to go to Lowe's and replace a number that has fallen off of our mail box..... and since I'm already there, I was told to go ahead and pick up a thorn less blackberry plant. 'sure, that will fit in your tank bag, right?'

And then, go to the local pharmacy (only 6 miles form the house) and pick up the prescription that she had called in for herself.

I managed to get the plant in the bag without damage, found a place to put the bamboo stake that used to be in the pot, and rode to the pharmacy. By the time I had the prescription tucked into a jacket pocket, the candy treat I had bought her in the other pocket and dug my keys out, I put my wallet in one of my jacket pockets, geared up and headed for the house.

I get about 2 miles from my house and a little toyota car starts honking at me repeatedly..... I pat my pocket where my wallet should be, and it's not there. Pocket is inside out -- I did not zip up the flap. I immediately pull over and start thinking about where the wallet would have fallen out -- just within the last 4 miles, thank goodness.... that should only take me a couple of days to search(!).

The car pulls up beside me, and the driver hands me my wallet.

Congrats on new bike!

Is your ZX-6R lowered? I'm asking because the rear looks low (in the picture anyways) and I'm thinking about lowering the bike so wanted to know what it would look like.

Welcome to the forum Eric.

Head over to Grattan for a track day. Novice will give you some real corner time and the coach's will help teach you how to get the most out of your bike cornering and braking.

I'll be at Mid-Ohio July 10th, would be great to see you there.
