Figured I would introduce myself after my recent purchase. I'm Eric, but everyone just calls me 'Winder. I've been riding for quite a number of years, but took the MSF and got my motorcycle endorsement nearly 6 years ago. Since then I was riding a 2009 Ninja 250. I didn't upgrade for quite some time since I was focused on knocking out student loans and assisting one of my family members financially after being diagnosed with leukemia (she's all better now though :smile).
Now that I was in a position to do so, I just bought a white 2013 ZX-6R (had to be white) as a 30th birthday present to myself! :BigGrin I found it back in February sitting in a PowerSports shop surprisingly almost untouched. It was in perfect condition and only 1208 miles. I bought it out the door for $8100 which I thought was a killer deal!
I've been riding it for a little over a month now and I am absolutely addicted to it. Figured I would jump on the forums and say hi!
And congratulations on the purchase, and also for being the sort of stand up person the world could use a lot more of. Hopefully your example is followed by others.
Yes, good karma is always needed in life. It pays to be kind and help others. Welcome. 2013+ Zx6r's are awesome. Easy bike to ride and good fast on. The rear shock is a little soft and can use some attention but the fork is pretty solid. If you ride hard, you could use upgraded suspension. But on the other hand, if you are just cruising you don't really need it.
Is your ZX-6R lowered? I'm asking because the rear looks low (in the picture anyways) and I'm thinking about lowering the bike so wanted to know what it would look like.
Head over to Grattan for a track day. Novice will give you some real corner time and the coach's will help teach you how to get the most out of your bike cornering and braking.
I'll be at Mid-Ohio July 10th, would be great to see you there.
Cool, thanks for the tip! I've done a bunch of novice and advanced riding courses through the Washtenaw Community College throughout the years but never an open track day! Would love to get some track time and additional coaching
I wish I could attend July 10th. I'll be getting ready for a Coach Summit trip in New Orleans then! But if there are more in the late summer or early fall I'd be interested.
Welcome, super impressed with your love and care for family! Love the bike, white is my favorite color! Trying to remember what it was like to be 30, had to wait till was over 60 to get a ZX6R My '14 is glossy green and matte black which is a bit of a challenge to keep clean. Only change so far is an Olins steering damper which made a big difference, have a set of adjustable clip-on's but haven't gotten around to putting them on. I had a 07 Ninja 250 which was a blast, most fun bike I've owned. Before the ZX6R had a 2012 CBR600RR (well still have it for sale), it is a sweet bike and fun to ride but the ZX6R is better. The Bend of the knee is less on the ZX6R, the CBR doesn't have the torque but once it's wound it it goes very well. Bought the ZX6R for ABS and love that and the traction control. Had the ABS save me one - someone pulled out on me in a blocking maneuver and I stopped before colliding with the side of his SUV! Was going less than 20 at the time but was really scary. Have a great video of that and his profanity towards me a few blocks down the road (my wife said it was his excuse for making such a deliberate boneheaded move).
My grandmother was from Michigan and my sister lived in Adrian for over 30 years.
Thank you very much! I hope I'm still riding supersports at your age! Yeah I've been on a number of 600s, but the 636 felt the most comfortable and performance-wise, you can't get better value! I would have loved ABS on mine, but finding a white one with ABS was near impossible around here. I had to travel almost 300 miles round trip to get this one. Worth it though
I'm a little slow on the welcome, but hopefully it comes to you better late than never. Glad to have you as a part of the community - you seem like a nice, reasonable, level-headed person...of which we are sometimes a little lacking around here in the sportbike life as you might imagine
No worries, thanks! I try to be :BigGrin haha, but yeah I totally understand that after riding a number of years. Every batch seems to have some bad eggs here and there lol
I recently purchased a crashed 2016 Zx6r, now I'm rebuilding the bike. I see this threaded cable which is cut,It looks like the clutch cable( threaded). but it's not the clutch cable. What's the other cable?
Can anyone tell me what cable is it?
I found this youtube video where you can see that there's two similar cable. took a screenshot &posted it.
