New Here, but a Vet!!

Hey guys, I'm new to the ZX6R forums. My name is Steve Knecum from New Jersey. I've been building engines for over 34 years and racing 1/4 mile just as long. I race top speed also at Loring Air Force base and I use to at the Maxton Mile and The Ohio Mile as well as The Bonneville salt flats. I never road raced but would like to some day. I'm 51 but still hold my own at the track. I think I still have some records but I know my engines hold several. My engines hold the the fastest open wheel speeds ever on 2 wheels for over 10 yrs to present. Our Normally Aspirated bike The Guppy holds the Bonneville and all time speed of 255mph, we also hold the pavement records at around 239mph in 1.5 miles and 234 in the standing mile. I really hold to my heart the fastest speed ever on 2 wheels and still to present The record of the late Bill (MR.311MPH) Warner. Thats my build between his legs!!! Bill Warner had passed away on that bike due to a high speed crash at Loring. GODSPEED Bill Warner!! I also have been over 250 mph on salt and 248 in 2009 on pavement with no bodywork!!! Thats right NAKED.!!! Still the 2nd fastest ever, only to Bill Warners 255mph naked speed.

Ok enough about me, but you guys insisted to introduce myself!! LOL Anyway if you guys have any questions feel free to ask. I'm a 34 yrs exp Tech, engine builder, racer, Diag guy, you name it I've done it or fixed it!! I literally can build a Hayabusa engine blind folded and degree cams by the naked eye, no degree wheel needed!!!! Anyway thanks for having me and talk with you guys soon!!!

The ZX6 has no engine mods, your not allowed to do anything. So the engine will remain stock.!!

Welcome, Steve.

I'm a shade tree mechanic, so everything I can learn from someone with more time with a wrench in their hands is appreciated. There are a couple of folk here who are full time techs and mechanics -- that's one of the main reasons I stick around is to pick their brains. Sounds like I'll gain from your presence, so pull up a chair and get comfortable.

"Basic stuff fellas. Use your head for something other than to break your next fall."

"There's this adage that we have 2 ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. Unfortunately with the Internet people have taken this old adage and turned it around. They have two eyes and 10 fingers so they think they need to post 5 times as much as they read. And since they have 10 fingers and one brain, they only have to think 10% of the time! "

Right on Steve, Welcome. Pretty cool resume for sure. You will be an asset over here. I don't know much about the engines that propel me. But I am also a old guy like you looking for my NEXT GOOD TIME. I do know plenty about riding motorcycle and tuning their suspension to make them go fast around corners. We will make a great team as long as you can take the jokes and other crap this place will dish out.

Nice intro, you have covered just about everything but a picture.
We like pictures. Lot's of pictures.

So we send engine and money, you return engine. How much for a standard build.
Always nice to have options.

Ok,, never mind. You like straight lines REALLY FAST.
If you get bored, want more than 9 seconds of adrenaline do some corners on a track. LOL.
Guess this was a couple years ago. Your engine or you also.
Really fast, but ugly. (sorry about the later) aerodynamics can be fugly.

More recent, you loose a little but not much on the shift's. Practice does make perfect.
OH, sweet run and bike.
