Creativity DOES is the key factor. There is both good and bad creativity though.

My thoughts are that throwing a slipon exhaust and a bunch of stickers is not impressive to me. That is pretty much the same as a ricer. Lets take my stock Civic and weld on a can and throw a bunch of decals on it! Yea I'm cool!

Some of the bikes have deserved a win but not all. I like one of a kind. Something that can not be found anywhere else. 95% of the bikes here, I can probably buy the exact same one with the same modifications in one or more cities.

There should be a most ingenuitive 6OTM or 6OTY award. There are some pretty beastly bikes that have yet to really make an appearance here. The well built track bikes are the ones I love the most.

Let's be honest with ourselves, it truly is all about how purrrty it is.

What kinda cracks me up about these contests, my bike has actually won trophies in bike shows stacked up against $40k+ Harley Davidson boys....yet I have never even come close on one of these 6otm thingies.

I guess the difference is, I polish bolts and bits and worry about the details ...everybody else worries about the paint job.
I guess it is about how pretty it is but it should be about creativity. Everyone should be judged on uniqueness and not how much money you have to throw at your bike

fwiw, I have way less money in my bike than anybody with a new(ish) bike. The cost of their bike alone costs more than everything on my bike together including the $500 purchase price of the bike itself. You just have to be patient and search for the deals. Plus I have had years to accumulate parts for it. I just like to take things apart and then put it back together the way I want. The way I want always leans towards function over form. (with the exception of muh undertail, I just think it is cool )

In the end, all you really have is body and mind.

I only chose my decal set because it was unique but all my major upgrades are being done over the winter brake line was done last week but I want to do a few upgrades before April(performance wise). I enjoy the thread more than the competition because I enjoy seeing all the different bikes if u love ur ride that's all that really matters imho

The R1 is a great bike. Once I get to the point that I am riding my middle weights to 95% of their potential I may get another liter bike. I'm thinking that it will take quite a while for me to get to that point.

hehehe me too, It's the putting back together that I sometimes trouble over.

I rarely vote in this thread, but if I do, it goes to a racebike (Cupcake has mine this time) because the 6R is still fulfilling the intended purpose behind its design. It wants to live at the track. Shiny, pretty street bikes with lots of stickers don't do much for me. Mine's street at the moment, which is why I've never entered her.

I'll occasionally vote for a bike that I know has been through a lot (davidreaper's 'Bee a few months ago), or OND's Joan because of how meticulously clean she is despite having her pants ridden off.

It always seems to be someone that wins by a landslide. Very rare to have a close race. If you look back month to month, there is a very common theme between the winners.
