As I privately told NitrusReigns, I am requesting that I be taken out of the running. On a recent weekend trip to Eastern Oregon a wound up getting sideswiped by a 5X6 buck. I got a much later start than was originally intended. "I know better than to ride after dark in deer country."
I was cruising through some canyon lands/rolling hills about 10-12 miles outside of the town I was gonna spend the night in. I had been "pacing" with an Audi R8 at about 80mph when this buck jumps up out onto the Hwy. I was able to hall it down to about 60mph. I clipped his hindquarters. Rolling up, over and staying upright. A wee headshake and onward into town. It wasn't until I had checked in that I saw the damage. Crack front fender; busted left cowling/turn signal, etc. When I realized that I could not stop in time from hitting him, I thought to myself, "... Fİk, this is really gonna be bad..." All things considered, I realize that my guardian angel is grossly over worked, and grossly under paid.
So, I'll keep NitrusReigns posted, and when I get it all buttoned back together with a few more additional changes. If he sees fit, I would be truly humbled and honoured.
Some pix: 1) the deer fur is inbedded into the fender, you can't pull it out with just your fingers, it requires Vise-grips. 2) shows the morning carnage. 3) Just prior to the duct tape. 4) back home, and so begins the rebuild. I removed all of the cowling from the saddle forward to ascertain damage, if any. None except that done to the mid-cowling area/fender. One tough motorbike.
