Was out and about last night and happened to have my camera with me, so thought I may aswell test it out and take some pics of some of the sights.
It is only a point and shoot so not anything fancy (I wish I could afford something fancy!). Was a bugger holding the camera still though so not to get blurring as I don't have a tripod!
Here is what I got...
This one came out a bit blurry
London eye with Big Ben in the background
Street shot
Looking down from the bridge
The bridge
The UK's most famous telephone box!
Just thought I would share that lot with you guys! |

Nice shots! I really like the 4th and 9th ones, and that last one is just classic London. I was going to recommend a Tripod, but then I went back and read what you wrote, and you already mentioned it. Try just putting the camera down on something: fence, railing, parking meter, whatever you have available. Sometimes resting your elbow on something solid will take some of the wiggle out too. Did you're camera argue with you about the Flash? For the longer distance shots, like the one w/ the eye and BB together, the flash is useless and you'll get better results without it because the camera will use a different shutter speed if it knows the flash is off.
Nice pics though, there's nothing wrong with using a P&S, it's not the equipment that takes the photo, it's your eye that sees it and sets up the scene, and picks what you want to shoot, the camera is just a way of saving that view for later. You can pick up a tripod pretty cheep, I think I paid about $20 for mine.

I turned the flash off for all those pics, as I know it is going to be useless at those distances.
I also put the camera shoot mode onto burst-mode so it continuosly takes pics as you hold down the button. That helped a bit, but nothing beats a proper tripod!

Like the 3rd shot CK, nice use of the bridge to draw your eye into the picture

Cheers guys.
arron, the camera is a Sony DSC-W130. Had it about a year, but have only really taken photos of bikes, so wanted to try it on other stuff. lol.
Experimented a little with the pic of the cars taken from the bridge. Edited in Gimp (poor man's photoshop hehehe) to give a fake tilt-shift effect (basically makes it look like a photo of a small scale model).
I rekon for a better effect the pic would have to be taken from higher up and maybe in daylight. Anyway, it was fun just messing trying it out. |

That tilt shift process does look quite convincing.
Ohh, nice pix too
Cheers,
Pete.

Really nice pics man, night life is always nice to capture on film. Is that "London Eye" like a Ferris Wheel? a ride or something? Looks like the one from the last Fantastic 4 movie if you've seen that. Keep taking more bro, love to see more of your country

It is 135 metres (443 ft) high and takes half an hour to do one complete revolution, so mainly tourists go on it to get a good view.
Here is a pic (not mine) from near the top: |

WOW! Cool but scary in a way! I don't mind heights too much but I might have to strap a parachute on for that! Inside the pod looks nice though
