I have too many hobbies and can't always keep them compartmentalized... I like enjoy the awesome things other people do and sharing when I get to do awesome things lol. Thanks!
Yup! I used an 8" Reflector telescope (1000mm focal length) on an equatorial mount that wasn't tracking (hand positioned). I strapped an unmodified Nikon D7200 body onto an eyepiece projection rig and used... hmmm... I'm pretty sure it was a 17mm and 25mm eyepiece.
I was playing with different image scales. Unfortunately the camera knows nothing about that so it's not saved in the image data like it would be if I used a camera lens.
So the Chain of... imagery? would be Moon -> Reflector scope -> 17mm/25mm eyepiece -> adapter adjustable gap ->D7200 image sensor. All focusing is done with the telescope of course, which is interesting.
Not 100% sure. This is the first time I viewed the moon through this scope and it definitely felt like I was in orbit. I didn't look anywhere else for a while, so who knows.
I have been lately but I'm brand new to this hobby. I used to shoot the moon with a 200mm Nikor and then got pissed one day because i could only barely make out the bands in a blurry greyscale.
