Zero, that's a sick bike.
I have never liked the older body styles quite as much as I like yours. Not sure why, but something about it just works for me. The red and black you had before is definitely something I am going to consider for my personal bike now.

Props for a -KICKASS- D.I.Y. bike.

Thanks mate! We have been through hell together that is for sure. I was going to nominate her for 6OTM but I'm not going to nominate myself. Seems a bit unjust to do so.

Finally got around to setting the preload on the steering stem. Now she is a whole different ride, and in a great way! I should have done it a while ago but have been real busy at the shop and just needed to rest after the days. My next list item is putting new rubber under her and going to re jet.

Are you going with those Pilot Road 3's you were talking to me about? I'm curious to know if they have decent grip on the outer edges.

Yeah... pilot Road 3. I know a couple of guys with them and read all kind of reviews. I will let you know. I have a set at the shop right now, but can't afford to reimburse the shop if I use them.

Thanks Michael! You have to set the stem preload by feel. The way to do it is...

Put the bike on a rear stand.
Then jack the front up, even with the rear, where the steering is free.
Place the front end in the middle, as if you were riding straight.
Slightly tap one side of the bar to the other side.
If the trees hit the stop and bounce slightly, the stem is not tight enough.

You want to be able to place the bars, at any position, and they stay there without moving on their own. You also want the bars to barely hit the stops when slightly pushed from center. You can tighten the preload without taking the upper tree off. Just loosen the tip nut and then use a flat blade and mallet to tighten or loosen the 2 locking fasteners.

Oh yea... The job is great! Mon-Fri from 10-5. No benefits to take but I do get parts at cost and have access to the shop at any time to work on the Dragon, if needed.

Just make sure you don't tighten that stem too much (not speaking to you Scott, just in general). The 05/06 ZX6R service manual (since that's the front end I'm running) says 11 ft-lbs of torque on those two locking rings. I wasn't about to figure out how to get a torque wrench on those, so I did the same and went by feel. Front moves pretty freely, but not loose per se.

No benefits, but at least they give you the discounts and let you use the shop for personal reasons. That's really freakin' cool, man. Now you can just go nuts with mods if you like. Maybe even make some extra cash on the side fabricating stuff. Maybe?? Just keep it on the D-L.

It's all good! I like to keep the front end a bit tighter than what the manuals say. To me, its easier to upright after a turn because the bike feels as if its righting herself.
