a lil progress thread from bigphil

hey guys!
My name is phil, I am 22 years old, and live in Columbia,TN.

first let me say that I will be getting this bike after the thanksgiving holiday is out of the way.(easier for all involved that way lol).

she is an 05. has a few issues(fuel line needs to be replaced, marker lights need to be handled, and a new battery).

I joined to get as much info as I could and get new ideas.

these are the pics the current owner had for me.



but I think for the $1000 im paying for it the things it needs aren't that bad... the tires are new as well as a few other goodies im sure im leaving out

..... the guy im buying the bike from is a long time friend of mine. his son rode it and bought a CBR600RR and started riding the cbr more and offered me this lil guy at $1000 with the option to start fixing it and make payments on it.

so i figured that this would make a good winter time project and I should have it ready to go early spring...

as far as I know it needs

headlights(9000k by XENTEC have been ordered and I have them waiting at the shop)
a custom intergrated turn/stop light is being worked on by a really good friend of mine( he does a little bit of everything lol)

a fuel line needs to be replaced

and a tune up.


and just to brag lol

here is the the current owners bike...aka RUBY... not my style but this bike is amazing.


and this turbo busa belongs to the man that built RUBY and is making my tail light.... he can build just about anything

If you don't pick it up I will. I don't care I can fix it and have her purring. Do you know the milage and other then what you mentioned it sounds like a decent winter project especially for a 1000 you can't go wrong. Good luck and post as you go.

mileage is around 12K w/clean title as I said this is a "know the right guy" special lol

RUBY (red busa) wouldnt be happy if her exhaust was taken away lol


its been really messy around my house the past few days (rain and such)
considering taking the bike inside the garage and winterizing it... and taking the plastics off to start polishing them because as you can see she is horribly nasty at the moment.

starting to look into a lid for me (thinking about the AFX FX-90 black zombie)

ive heard good things about AFX as a brand...and its been forever since ive been fitted for a lid.....last time i had one i wore a large....ill need to get that handeld before money leave my pocket. I may try to find a cycle store around and try on different lids to get a good "read" on how different ones fit.

basically just the bulbs are toastand the lens for both side have been "misplaced".....I am looking into switchback leds for the fronts..... and the rears will be integrated into the tail.

any other ideas are more than welcome

Why just not replace the lens with oem and swap out the bulbs for LEDs?

been away for a few days... I tagged a deer in my delivery van and ive been tracking down replacement parts for it lol.... but the 636 got a little love in the form of a room in my house...... wifey told me if we could paint the living/dining room .. then JA-JA- bikes (her name for it not mine) could live in the spare bedroom.....needless to say the living room smells funny and the spare room is being covered in garage tiles lol.

the damage from tagging a deer out side Murray.Ky a week before thanksgiving


just a cool pic i snapped while working( its more comfortable for me to drive in my socks)


after tear down on Friday (12-2-11) after about an hour and a half. damage wasnt all that bad to my surprise.we called it a day after about5 hours of workin on her


and less than 24 hours (12-3-11 at 0300pm) after she went in to surgery she is as good as new!!!

I do think this is the best riding gear ive seen in a while
