Thanks alot bro, I have alot of seat time and money in that one. Dual quad caliper Hayabusa big rotor quick release FTI hand brake, RSC clutch, A-Town Customs cage, Sick Innovations clipons, rearsets and round bar, 60T rear sprocket with a -1 up front. That one is by far my favorite.

The Ducati was fun to ride, probably spent about an hour riding through town and some hills south of town. It is the most mechanically precise bike I have ridden. It had a substantial amount of torque and an overall good stable feeling under hard acceleration and cornering. But my favorite is still the 08+ Honda CBR1000RR, not quite as fast in the low end but felt like a 600 to ride with the power of a 1000.

I heard those Ducs are Wheelie machines

How would you compare it to your kawai wheelie wise?

There is little comparison. The Duc is a torque BEAST! The only problem with maintaining wheelies is oil control. After this session oil was getting into the airbox and draining out in front of the rear tire. Fortunately not while it was being ridden. The other problem with sustained wheelies on the Duc is the V-Twin, this platform is notorious for blowing the front cylinder when maintained at near 12 o'clock for long periods because the oil pickup won't deliver oil properly. I have seen Ducati be stunted out before ( ) and he must have done some work to the oil pickup. For just regular (below balance point) wheelies this thing will do it up to at least 4th gear. Way too fast IMO but hey, if you got $18k to blow on a bike to rock wheelies on, be my guest. I'm actually the 2nd person to ever ride that Ducati because he knows what I am capable of. THOSE BIKES ARE AWESOME AND NOT FOR SQUIDS! Haha! Unless you can throw away 20gs.

The 636 on the other hand is IDEAL for wheelies if you are trying to actually stunt. The amount of idle power/torque is second to none. The Honda 01+F4i is the only other bike I would recommend to stunt. They are built like tanks, very negotiable and can handle anything you throw at it without worrying about cracking the frame (crossing fingers mine hasn't cracked...yet) or the frailness of the 636s.

Thanks for the in-depth response! Wasn't expecting a full explanation. Love the ducati look, and they are very well made bikes, but like you said I don't have 20g's to be spending on a bike. I bought mine for less than a quarter of that and i've personally seen (stock for stock) my same bike take an 848 on the strip. Ill be going for faster and cheaper please haha.

When he asked me to wheelie the Duc, I nearly shit myself. hahaha!! But its that once in a lifetime chance that cannot be passed up and the fact he trusted me that much to wheelie a $18k 1198 with less than 2000 miles on it was a pat on the back to say the least. It was truly one of the greatest bikes I have ever ridden, let alone wheelie.

That's a sick rear brake setup on your stunter...

I don't stunt, so forgive the question, why is so much stopping power needed in the rear?

Its mostly about feel and brake fade. In balance point wheelies you are on the hand brake or foot brake the entire time, especially if you are turning circles. This would cause alot of brake fade out of say, a stock foot brake caliper/rotor with a junction valve. Maybe ride 15 min or so before it gets too mushy to be worth a damn. By putting 2 front brake calipers and a busa rotor on it, the heat is dissipated much faster so it takes 5-6 times the length of time to get even the slightest amount of brake fade. I get wore out before that happens, haha! With having the front caliper as my foot brake it is MUCH more responsive and has such a better feel as opposed to stock.
