I Ride: 09 ZX6R (track only) 04 CR85R
Slowly preparing for this season and decided that my old boots would be resigned to supermoto use and I needed a new pair for the track this season. So after taking a walk over to the D-store Wolverhampton there was only one choice for me...

Daytona Security evo, I really wanted the custom outer but I didn't want to wait or pay the extra so I ended up with these... If you are not familiar with Daytona look them up, best boots on the market now for comfort and safety.

Sanctuary, Crashchris and Newyork like this.

Finally got around to editing a flat track video from awhile ago, not really zx6r related but it still bikes so I'll leave it here.

I Ride: 09 ZX6R (track only) 04 CR85R
Received a message from MSS Performance a couple weeks ago saying that they had a new shipment of Kawasaki Kit parts in stock. Last week I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the .50 head gasket.

No plans to install it anytime soon as the track season is starting and not the time I want to get into an engine build but at the end of this season I plan to check the valves and do an adjustment if necessary, so that would be a good time to do that work. Certainly not something I needed... But I couldn't miss out on the chance to purchase as these Kawasaki KIT parts aren't always readily available, and it was relatively cheap.

While I was at it I grabbed a second set of wheels for the CR85, 12" mags this time as well as the adaptor to run the dual piston CRF450 caliper. This way I don't have to worry about changing tires all the time, and just switch wheels and go.

One of the final pieces to the mini supermoto puzzle is suspension. For my purposes I didn't want to go crazy just yet so I settled on heavier weight oil and Ktech springs for my weight, correct valving will have to wait. Along with that I'm going to lower the front slightly, should be a good balance between supermoto and flat track.

Few more things on the list and I'll be ready for this season!

Hmmm interested to see the results you'll get from the head gasket! I talked to my mechanic abt swapping for a thinner head gasket but he advised against it (in fact he said he wouldn't do it even if I paid him as it's his name on the engine too) unless I did a full top end refresh... i.e. new valves, collets, etc. Mind you, my engine has been around but it doesn't have what I'd consider a LOT of mileage... about 8000mi, 2000 of those being track I think.

That is a lot when tuning it, read the kit manual service schedule and you will see why. Thinner head gasket will give you hp in exchange for reliability. I don't know what class you are looking to compete in or it's rules, but if you can, go for camshafts instead if you want a bit more "umpf". That would be more kind to the engine.

I have no real plans to throw it in anytime soon, it's just these don't come around often where I live so I got it for when I do eventually refresh the motor, most likely at the end of this season.

Right now I'm about 3 weeks from my first trackday for this season and not much to do but install the fairing stay, MWR air filter adjustment screws and dyno along with some fresh paint and vinyl

Still catching up some videos, here is another instalment...

haha love the commentary idea! It does help with the old advice "you should get on the throttle harder" or "you need to carry more corner speed". It's like "dude, I know... if you're not gonna tell me HOW, don't bother!"

EXACTLY! Lol my favourite one is "more gas, less brake"...

Appreciate the feedback, I know it's not an easy watch especially for faster riders, and I know they aren't the best yet by a long shot but I'm working on improving so bear with me

One thing you can do to improve your speed is to use your gearbox.
According to my dyno sheet, when im around 8-10k rpm ive got 80-90hp on the wheel. at 14-16 ive got about 120. I would say, during about 80% of the lap, you are using 80% of your engine instead of 100 when you are on full throttle. Also, the quote from simon crafar is really useful - "its not about being first on the gas, its being first to full gas". I have no idea of your body position etc that can also help you go faster, where you sit, how you get there, there are millions of things that does it for you.
