Depending on the tire they can have positive or negative effects, if I go racing slicks they are necessary, especially here in cold ass Canada. But i agree they are a waste if you are running a DOT tire.

So it looks like the winter build has started, I've decided mostly what I want to do and have acquired a few bits already. My plans this time are fairly simple

1)Light engine work, raise compression, adjust the cam timing and install and tune the Kit ECU.

2) Suspension is getting sorted out, I got something good going and I don't want to jinx it so I will wait to share the details

3) Powdercoating the rims and patching up and repaint the bodywork.

4) Attack Velocity stacks, Annitori quickshifter

This was the inspiration for the new colour scheme.

Here are some pics of the bits I picked up so far

Kit ECU and oem harness adapter

Woodcraft Brake lever Guard

Brembo 19x18 Master Cylinder

Brembo folding shorty lever

Brembo mini reservoir, Brembo double banjo bolt , Brembo tubing and Ladybird reservoir stand kit

This is a pic of the reservoir and Ladybird stand on a friend's Aprilia

Motion Pro quick turn throttle kit

I was lucky enough to find the tuner who built the factory Kawasaki bikes for the past few years so the bike will be going up to him for the engine work and tuning the Kit ECU, then she will be getting paint and powdercoating and then after that it will be off to the suspension guy for the really sexy bits and then a final run on the dyno. Seems like alot now, and do I need most of this....no , Do I want it....YES and I have a long Canadian winter to get through anyway so this should help.

wow nice stuff you got going on there. I have an old 05 track bike and I'm debating if I want to pour more money into it or sale it for a more power/modern bike. Well I dont care so much about the modern apart but I do want more power.

You could always track the Aprilia... but I hear you on wanting more power, I actually started riding track on a R1, it had so much more power you could really be lazy and not worry about being in the proper gear alot of the time, and was surprisingly easy to ride. But I'm also at the point now where I find it more fun to have something that I can use closer to it's full potential, although I have a way to go for that too . All that being said the new 636 is very very tempting!

Smokey, another grip question.
Center tank grip, TechSpec again? What cut/shape is it?

Tech Spec as well, just their regular center pad that isn't bike specific, not sure if their is an actual name other than center pad.

I haven't installed the Kit ECU yet, the bike is going to the tuner next week when the tuner gets back in town. I understand that you can get a 10% increase in power on top of raising the rev limit, changing the ignition timing etc. I plan to do some light engine work so I won't be able to do a true before and after comparison but I will post a new dyno chart when all the work is done.

Well I knocked another thing off my winter build list and picked this up this week. Chances are I will go with a re-valve, and new springs up front. I think the cartridge kit would be a waste for my current skill level, but I'm keeping my eyes open for a cartridge kit for cheap over the winter.
