I think the membership may be required? That's where the $250 figure came from.

I just bought a racing suit for $225. That way I don't have to worry about it lol. Still need the right boots and gloves.

Might be in for a day when the weather breaks. That's a fast track, looks like fun.

Main is a ton of fun! They did a partial repave this spring, I have mixed feelings about it. T3 is a wee bumpy, but the 4-5-6 combo are awesome!
Shenny is a VERY technical track! Not a fast one, but a thinking track. If you miss the apex for T16 then you miss 17 and 18 too. Not that you run off, you just have to collect your line as everyone else passes you because you scrubbed all your speed. Coming out of T7 into T8 is a fun uphill blind corner, then down into the Esses. It is like a mini Laguna.
Roger runs a tight ship. He's a damn good guy too.

I had been looking into this. Looks like I gotta get at least $1000 worth of gear to even set foot on the track.

I'm there on the 8/28. Been to the Shenandoah track a couple of times. Like EvilTwin said, it's a technical track. It's not about speed, but technique. I will probably take the 250. But I may take the ZX6. I need to become more comfortable with leaning it over.

I haven't done Main yet. But I hear it's a blast.

Lol bunch of interest. I need to pick up some racing gloves and sidi boots before I go. I'm probably going to go to one of the Main circuit sessions since I actually know that circuit.

I'm a tad shy (Worried) about turn 1 and the karussel: the former because it's a giant home straight into a deceptive turn, and the latter because as I recall it's a downhill straight into that curve, and if you go off it's rough. That's what beginner groups are for though .

I was wondering: since I need to get some more gear and it sounds like other people might also, does anyone know if you can just show up and watch for a bit? I wouldn't mind riding out and just observing for a little while to get a feel for how the track day works.

Shennandoah is a blast. I went with TPM (Team Pro Motion), so each track day is $205 after the initial $25 membership.

T1 leaves people very apprehensive. 160mph into a 2nd gear turn! Nice thing is that it is an increasing radius. Rolling into the chute (T4) requires very neutral throttle. (I think this is where you are referring to as the Karussel, but that is actually the T6 "U turn).
You are absolutely welcome to come out and watch. A few of my cruiser buddies do sometimes. Matter of fact, Team Pro Motion offers a "Intro" to the track. At the lunch break, you can take an on- track tour with their control riders. I don't think you even need to tape/ wire/ leather up. You can also join us corner workers for WERA and CCS races by signing up at Mid-Atlantic Roadracing Club .

Lol oops, you're right. I got a little confused...

In that case, I meant Turn 4 is a rough off, isn't it? When you say neutral throttle, what do you mean? 50/50 balance instead of 40/60?
