Jennings GP Sat. 10/24

Going to be a the Jennings GP track day tomorrow with the ZX6. A friend and I are driving up tomorrow morning. He has a black 2000 ZRX1100.

This will be the first track day on the ZX6. I'm so pumped right now!

Damn, I would love to join you and your friend but I have to work Saturday! I ride with a huge group out of Valdosta. Give us a shout a bit sooner next time and you guys might be able to join us renting out the track for a day.

Sorry about the short notice. We had been planning to go on Monday but because of both of our schedules we found that it wouldn't work. So instead of canceling we moved to Sat. It was all pretty last minute on pulling the trigger.

Anyway we went Saturday and had a really great time. The track wasn't crowded and we got a lot of time as a result. Only two groups going, expert/inter and a novice group. Great day for everyone. Only one rider went down. I didn't see it but he came back on the crash truck with his bike and was fine. Not sure if he got the bike back on track or not. It didn't look too bad.

First time I've had the ZX6 on the track and it was awesome. First session the tires had too much pressure and just didn't feel all that planted. I lowered the pressure 2 psi and they worked much better the rest of the day. I'm still thinking I had a bit too much pressure since the got better as they got hotter and hotter. I think I'll start with another 2 psi out of them to get them up to temp faster.

Aside from that it was mostly learning the new bike. By the end, I had gotten really comfortable from turns 11 all the way thru turn 6. Turn 7 thru 10 I'm still trying to figure out the correct lines. I was getting better but I don't think the lines I was using are all that fast. I've got some ideas for the next trip to see if they work better.

Only real problem was the damn gnats. They where thick. Had a big fan with us but even that wouldn't keep them off you. It drives me nuts to have bugs crawling in my hair and ears. Just can't stand that feeling.

Yeah the gnats are pretty fierce around here. And because of that, we're used to them and don't pay too much attention to them. But yeah, turns 7-10 are the ones that usually mess people up. And aside from that, my only complaint about the track is that it is flat. Some elevation changes and a little bit of a bank in the corners would be nice. And it would help save your tires a bit. Jennings will eat up a set super quick!
