I was wearing a used Kushitani 1 piece I picked up for under $200 (buddy deal) and just got an A*s MX-1 suit for $599.00 ($1300 MSRP)
I wear Held Phantom(black) gloves and I've several boots... TCX Competizione RS, Sidi Vertigo Corsa, A*'s SMX Plus.
I've worn Knox back protector & now A*s Bionic Vest.
Shoei X-11 Elias helmet.
You're on the right track for sure. Remember when trying on suits that you'll need to try on chest/back protector also for correct fitment.
P.S I have no problem buying/wearing good 2nd hand gear as I need to save $$'s for track time.

i went with bilt 1 piece suit. and bilt racing boots. i mean for 325 shipped you cant really go wrong. if your on a tight budget i would suggest taking a quick look. but then again i really dont do that many track days so for me personally, spending 1k on a suit only is a bit over kill.

bilt trackstar boots
joe rocket guantlet gloves
scorpion ex0-400 helmet
girls in leathers makes me  ;
