Just got unloaded from the weekend. We had a great time. The weather on Sat. sucked. It started raining off and on around noon and the wind really picked up. Destroyed a bunch of pop-up tents and such. It really started to push the bikes around on the track to. Came of 13 and got pushed 2' off my line. It was quite eye opening.
Sunday was really nice weather. Not too hot and the sun came out and dried things out quickly. The wind was still an issue but had shifted. Made going into 3 an adventure. A real adventure since that's the fastest corner entry on the track. Lot of buffeting as you approached the corner.
The Southern Track Days guys put on another really great event. Lots of friendly people and I learned a lot. I worked with Nick on Sat. and really got the line down going thru the tight part of the track, Turns 3 thru 8 I had really figured out by the end of the weekend. I still could be better on 9 and 10 though. Have to work on that next time.
Sat. had a fair amount of crashes. Lots of red flags and interruptions picking up bikes and riders. As far as I know, no one was seriously hurt though.
Managed to have a ride off in turn 14 on Sunday. First session after lunch and I had a total lapse in concentration going into 13. Found myself on the wrong line and then my brain just locked up on how to fix it. Wound up running wide going into 14. Instead of just trying to keep turning it when I realized I was rapidly running out of track, I just stood it up straight and rode it into the infield. Didn't drop it and just rode it back onto the track by start finish and continued. So, no harm no foul.
I'll post up some pictures when I get them back from the photographer. I didn't take any myself. Didn't want to drag the camera out in the rain on Sat. and it never occurred to me once we got riding on Sun.
Thanks, again to the folks with Southern Track Days for a great time.
