I've recently been running the Power Pure 2CT's. Had run the PP2CT's before that. THe pures are MUCH better. But still a street tire at the end of the day. But great side grip and decent wear. Better on a warm day rather than a HOT day.

I'm gonna try the Pirelli Super Corsa I think next season. Heard good things.

I picked up a couple of sets of 200/55 Dunlop KR449 slick take-offs and rode around on them this weekend. I liked them so much I bought a new set and put on over lunch and then raced on them in the afternoon.

I've run several track days on pilot power and pilot power 2CTs and the 2CTs will get really slick and greasy if you get very aggressive with them at all. My son and I and buddy almost went down on them. Another buddy did go down on them. So then I switched to Power Cup DOTs and they were like sex.

My son ran on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC (DOT version) this weekend and liked them. A buddy was on a Power One commercial and was sliding all over the track this weekend and then switched to a Power Cup DOT take-off and was MUCH happier with them.

I think I like the Dunlop slicks the best (I heard the Pirelli slicks are pretty good too). I would put the Power Cup DOT and Pirelli Supercorsa SC tires just below those. Power Pures would and Comercial Power Ones a big notch below them, the Pilot Power 2CTs a notch below that.

It really is unbelievable how much faster you can go on the right tire and have confidence you aren't going to slip out. I was taking those slicks pretty steep and did get them to wiggle a little but nothing stupid at all. Very comfortable feel. I just stopped and picked up another set of Dunlop Slick takeoffs (195/65) from the local fast guy and will put them on my son's bike for next weekend. We'll both be on the slicks and see who really is faster. How I rate them:

Dunlop KR449 rear + KR448 front
(I've never run them but I imagine Superbike Pro Pirelli's would fall about here)

Michelin Power Cup DOT/Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC

Michelin Power One Commercial/Power Pure

Pilot Power
Pilot Power 2CT

Of course those KR449 rear and KR448 front will cost some bucks. I paid $425 for the set of 200/55 KR449 rear and KR448 front. The 190s would have been 60 bucks less. I've been getting the takeoffs for 80 bucks a set and they'll last at LEAST 1 full track day.

^^^ awesome analysis! I'm gonna keep this saved on my PC so I can check them out next time I'm buying tires. Probably gonna save up over the off season for some DOT race tires and warmers.

2CT outside of B group is bound for failure. I ran them mid "I" group and felt like I was on a slip n slide on a hot ass day. Ended up lowsiding, bike just gave way after a few sessions....

I'm onto Supercorsa SC now. Don't remember which compound. I ran them without warmers last TD and they were awesome. I need to drop the forks with them I believe to make them turn the same as michelin street tires. I will experiment this weekend now that I have a set of warmers.

Seriously, any DOT tire with warmers will put a grin on your face. Being on the track is like crack. Having good tires is like double crack unfortunately.

Before I put the Dunlop slicks on I measured my axle height with my street tires (2CTs) and the rear ended coming up 15mm more than the front came up after mounting the slicks. I was a little nervous about it being twitchy so I dropped my forks the 4mm that I had sticking out of the top but I don't think I would have had to. It felt really damn good. You lean it over and it just stays right where you put it.

I had same question while back as i was deciding btw 2CTs, Q2s and BT-016 for street. Decided to go with 2CTs, and past weekend i got to try them on the track (Now keep in mind that the day was in mid to high 60's). Im in love with the tires. I did 6 sessions, pushed it to my limit but tire did not loose much wear, traction was good, and i felt confident in the tires. I think i can get at least 5 track days on this tires (tires had about 2.5K in street miles before the first track day with them). Since track i went to is mostly right turns, if i switch it up with another track next time that is mosly left turn i think i can get even more than 5 days. They DO get greasy as other guys pointed out even on a day in 60's. I never tried them on track with weather on 80+...

My buddy runs race slicks Dunlops (Non DOT) not sure what model and he loves them because they hold and last him few tract days (He is expert group). Im not sure in what group you run, but most "Expert" level guys ride with Supercorsa's and they love them.

I've been running racetecs for the last few years and have no intentions of swapping them out for anything else as I've never had any major issues with them. The Pirelli supercorsa's and Dunlop GP Racer D211 are also good tyres. If you're ever over near Oxford and fancy some racetec scrubs, I've got a pile of them in my garage .

This past season I played around with lots of tires:

-For the most part I used Power One DOT's A and B compunds. I used a Power One commercial at BeaveRun/PITT Race and it was sliding around pretty good. Towards the end of the season I had to switch to Power Cups. With a V front the turn in is sharp. Done with Michelin since no contigency payout in WERA

-I did 2 track days on BT 003RS tires and they were unpredictable and I really did not care for them

-Bridgestone R10 ..Great tire, great feedback and may run this tire next season since Bridgestone has good contigency payouts in WERA

-Dunlop GPA 211; Another great tire...used for one race weekend and though pricey, the front tire is amazing with alot of feedback and grip...mid corner handful of brake and it stuck.

All these are DOT tires and I run these so I can run Superstock and Superbike.

If you are just doing trackdays, look at the Pirelli Superbike Pro slicks..they last a while and are great tires. I rode my buddies Ducati with them and they felt great
