Lorenzo...thoughts on the 2013 Season for him

So just some thoughts on last season. I was all for Marquez before i knew it. It's great to see someone, somehow redefining the Premier class. Then i realized something the last few races. After watching Lorenzo for a few years, i've become used to seeing how he rides. By the end of the season, he eveolved. He adapted in order to compete with Marquez. Alternate lines. Early entries into turns. Squaring off turns. Recovering from in-race bumps and incidents. The race where he rode within 48 hours of surgery. Riding more by the seat of his pants, than the buttery, calculated riding we've become accustomed to out of Lorenzo.

Nothing can be taken away from Marquez, nor do i wish to: it was a jaw dropping run for him. He pushed Lorenzo and Pedrosa. But i have new respect for Lorenzo after this season, because of how he stepped-up. A truly great rider.

Yup. Jorge isn't done at all. Those few races when he was out.slow from the broken collar bone gave MM the opportunity the chance to grab the title. Not taking anything away from MM because he is still crazy fast, but I think next year will be a solid battle between those two all season long with some guest appearances from the bridesmade Dani.

+1 on the Dani statement. Jo Def addressed the challenge. Does anyone think Rossi is stuck in fourth land.

He's only getting older. I'm not saying he can't make a come back, but he's not showing me much. Its his first year back on a yami so maybe he can get more tuned in next year but personally I think he's to focuses on agostini's record.

Marquez can still cost himself the championship next year just being himself at any point. He's absolutely amazing but still less refined than his competitors...and I agree. I absolutely see Jorge rising to the occasion. When Jorge doesn't deliver, he comes in second. When Marquez doesn't deliver, he ends up on his head with zero points.

He's mixing it up a bit in a comparatively boring race so they are letting him get away with a lot in regards to his aggression and trading paint. However, when he wrecks himself and or someone else, 3-6 million euro goes cartwheeling down the track. The other manufacturers are going to force DORNA to penalize him for that at some point, safety not withstanding. The more they lose, the more I expect them to push for point reductions.

Dani is fucked and he will be trapped in the same limbo as Dovi where being one of the top 3 in the world still lets you slip into obscurity within 2 years...because you were done the second they realized you could never be #1. I fully expect them to sack him within the next couple of years and they would in 2014 if they had a promising second bike option. Dani was set to lose his ride last year and Simoncelli was going take the second HRC bike to ride with Stoner. How crazy is that...Dani only saved his job because Casey quit and Marco died. He'll likely duke it out with Rossi for 3rd every race just praying he can put it on the box.

Rossi and Bautista will battle for 4th. I'm interested to see if Crutchlow will remain in the fight for 5th, or if he will go the way of Dovi/Hayden, cause their bikes suck so bad that the Pramac Ducati is just as fast it seems like

I reckon if you ride GP you're gonna be tough as nails, no matter where you start on the grid.
Could a lot of the differences between racing styles & techniques be due to bike set up? I know these bikes are constantly evolving during the season.

Next race season:
-Marquez is just going to improve, probably release a mens 'fragrance' and a children's line of clothing. Both fragrance and clothing line will be labelled "Man", just for the irony.
-Jorge will have Bradl and maybe both the Yamaha Tech 3 bikes in his mirrors.
-Cal 'Bananaman'(see my other thread) Crutchlow will be using his Ducati in his off-time to deliver pizzas.
-If Scott Redding can keep it together, I believe he may make in interesting introduction to GP.
-Vale, further down the slope. Ditching his support crew in an attempt to revive his competitiveness will see his demise. Go sort your Moto3 team already Valentino.
-Pedrobot will retire at the conclusion of 2014 season. NASA will talk to him about replacing all their unmanned planet exploration missions for the next 3,000 years. At the conclusion of his 3,000 year contract he will have nearly perfected a convincing smile.
-Possibly an additional 7 or 8 races in Spain announced for 2015. "Atornille el clima económico!" can be frequently heard in the cantinas.

Rossi is on his way out. I don't see a new crew chief injecting enough bike setup magic into getting him the edge of taking risk of the youth that are putting them on the box.

MM started every race in 2013. He crashed out of only one actual race and was black flagged once. He was otherwise always third or better. I think some of his aggressive race craft is good for dicing it up and making GP enjoyable instead of expensive parade laps.

I don't see Dani on a Repsol Honda after 2014.

I love Bradl. Maybe Crutchlow going to Ducati means he can average one spot higher. And what the fuck is up with Spain and MotoGP?

I think the way Lorenzo crushed that last race is an indication of how he will dominate next season. I have said all along that he is a more talented rider than Marquez, but was held back this season by injuries and a bike that just wasnt as good as Honda's.

Now that Yamaha has a season under their belt with the seamless transmission, I am confident they will have a better machine for the 2014 season. As long as Lorenzo stays healthy, I think he will win it all.

Also, Marquez is wreckless. He had a LOT of crashes this past season. That type of style will not cater to a long career.

don't forget it was also marcs for season on a 1000cc MotoGP bike I think in 2014 he will still be a force to be reckoned with he's still so young and is still learning so much, I believe he will preform even better for 2014.
