2013 ZX6 Pirelli Superbike Pros opinions

Hey all,

I know tire threads probably make some of you want to punch cute kittens in the face but here goes.

Some of you talked me into checking out Pirelli for trackdays. So I am currently looking at the Pirelli Superbike Pro slicks for a trackday tire (non-racer). Few questions:

1. Any known distributors of these tires? I have to do a tire swap with another bike so I need the tires before my next track day, I cannot wait to purchase directly from Pirelli at the track. My research points me to ctracetires.com as the west coast distributor. (SBTG does not ship Pirellis west of the Mississippi)

2. Anybody run them without warmers? I might not be able to secure a generator before my next track day. My research says Pirelli boasted this about this tire that they don't necessarily need warmers.

3. About how many track days do you get? Can these tires be flipped?
Much appreciate input!

1 ctracetires.com CT racing in Santa Cruz can help you out. Operations Manager Chris is a great guy.

2 I know people that have run them without warmers, the regular lap or two to warm up was fine, but based on the feedback from them, the distributor and a few techs I would skip those and go with the supercorsa sc, the Superbike slick is decent but doesn't offer the same grip as the dot race tire, and with similar mileage. Also the Superbike slick is known to go off quite rapidly without warning while the Supercorsa the wear is much more evident and predictable when they are going to give up on you.

3 How many track days is a relative figure so I can't really comment on that, while some at a slower pace might get 5-6 days somebody else faster might get 2-3 days, it's hard to tell but I do believe they can be flipped, heck I've seen some flip just about anything.

Just my 0.02 from what I've seen

DUA Motorsports Bodywork, Akrapovic Moto2 exhaust w/ Akrapovic SS full system, Attack Rearsets, Bazzaz ZFI TC, Kawasaki Kit ECU, MWR race filter, Fren Tubo type 4 carbon fiber brake lines, Braketech Iron Axis rotors, , carbon Fiber clip on tubes, Renthal clip ons, ram air mod, Attack velocity stacks, Motion Pro quick turn throttle, Brembo 19x18 MC, custom carbon fiber subframe, Ohlins TTX36, Ohlins 30mm cartridge kit

Welcome to Motorcycle Tires Gear

East coast distributor, and good friend of mine. I can shoot him a quick email if you like.

2. Anybody run them without warmers? I have never personally run them but lots of the guys that I run with do use them at track days without warmers. they claim that they heat up very quickly, usually one to one and a half laps.

3. About how many track days do you get? Can these tires be flipped?

How much tire life you get will depend on your pace. Your "average" track day rider will likely get 6+ days out of them. Yes, they can definitely be flipped.
