I guess he's probably too old now for the big factories to want to give him a shot but he certainly looks to be the most talented rider in SBK by a pretty fair margin.
I think the M1 would probably bring the best in Rea if he was on a GP bike. He's got the Lorenzo style...really smooth and calculated guy with just enough aggression as needed to win and the thing that has really set him apart since joining KRT is he rarely makes a mistake. He's a machine!

Felt bad for both Cluzel and Jacobsen with the blown engines.

Also what sucks is that rider 111 (Kyle Smith?) was already DQ'd, but his riding prevented the Thai rider from competing for first.

Never ride faster than you can stop

Yeah that was very dickish for Smith to do that. Even when he got black-flagged he didn't see it.

I know some of you guys probably don't care but I'm excited for this new WSS300 class. This is the first weekend they'll race. Practice 1 results:

http://resources.worldsbk.com/files/...d5751fd79112ed

A ninja on top followed by a bunch of R3s! I'm surprised the 500s are as far up the list as they are. But I'm amazed that a lot of these guys are getting up to 115-120 mph! I know it's a long straight, but holy shit! These bikes all top out at around 105 stock, give or take. I wanna know what they're doing to get to that speed so I can do the same at Road America in July

Rea has pretty much every race in his pocket. At this point only injury can stop him. I was hoping Laverty would get up to speed on the familiar Aprilia . . . unfortunately it's proving to be tougher than anticipated, but at least it's not a Honda or Yamaha. Those two manufacturers have been a disappointment in WSBK.

Great Race 1 from Aragon! Super battle at the front - it looked like all that pressure Rea was putting on Davies finally got to him at the very end. Wow - 5 straight wins, especially at this track which was supposed to be so good for the Ducati....

And the Honda riders lock up 9th and 10th again! Certainly looks like they're not making much progress getting competitive. It's good to see that at least the R1s are in the picture near the front

Oh you can include me in the excitement! I'm just so curious to see what is the better small displacement motorcycle!! Also cheering on the lone American in that class! Yates I believe.

Davies is great but he keeps crashing out when Rea puts constant pressure on him! Unfortunately Sykes seems to be that he cannot keep up with those two for long, but he is having great battles with Melandri for 3rd!!! Kawasaki winning both those battles haha

Edit: except today's race melandri got sykes lol

Crazy race one. Tati Mercado is adapting well to the RSV, even better than Laverty. I was glad to see Davies was okay after that crash. I thought there would be some damage for sure since it looked like he was pinned down.

Crazy pole on the WSS300 from the ninja 300. Makes me proud to have one.

Fuckin Davies! God damn it! He's fast but can't handle the pressure. Much like Lorenzo and Stoner....if he can't check out and win comfortably he fucks himself over when there's someone right on his ass the whole time. What a shame ...it would take a fuckin miracle now to salvage this championship. Feel bad for the guy considering he ended 2016 with like 6 consecutive wins, and ended up winning the most races overall. Rea is just so damn good. He's not just fast...he's a race craft master! He just knows how to win now that he has a good bike, and he stays calm.

Half way into the race I had a bad feeling about this. Every time I saw Chaz backing it in the turns and outbrake Rea I was saying "Don't do anything stupid! Calm down Chaz!"....and then BAM!

Yates was never CONFIRMED. They just announced a while back that he was on a provisional entry list. It doesn't surprise me that they didn't make it work. $$$$

Yeah I was surprised to see the Honda on the front row. But nice to have all 3 manufacturers there.

The Honda got a nice tow to achieve that though

I'm anxiously anticipating the WSS300 race. IMO it's going to be the best production race series this year. . . that and the WSS class.

Drafting is an important factor in that class, just like Moto 3. The thing that surprised me the most is the top speed those guys were hitting. They were around 120 mph, with the fastest one being 123 mph! That's crazy fast for those bikes since stock ones top out around 105-110. I was just under the rev limit in 6th on my 500 and I don't think I hit 110, and I have a full exhaust, race air filter, PCV (although no custom map, and was running 91 pump gas). Not sure what the WSS300 guys are allowed to do with their bikes, but between their lighter weight riders and the drafting on the straights, that gives them quite a bit more speed.

I friend of mine who raced his 300 at Daytona and Road America said drafting would give him at least 5 mph more speed than if he didn't have anyone in front, and he was able to get pretty close to that 120 mark according to his GPS timer. He has a bit of work done on his engine though, not much since he's still legal for supersport class in CCS.

Similar feel to Race 2, even with the staggered grid they're using this year. Only difference was that Davies managed to keep it on 2 wheels to the finish. Rea made a very ballsy move on the last lap to try and block pass and they got REALLY close but Davies got underneath and blew the Kawi away.

If Ducati didn't have such a huge motor advantage this would really be a one-sided affair. Those two long straights at Aragon really showed that in a big way. There was no way Rea could hang with either of the Ducs and if they were behind him they could easily draft and pass him at either section.

And same as Race 1, the Yamaha riders were in the mix, the Aprilia guys were surprisingly close to the front, and the Honda guys were a mile away - at least the one still running at the finish...
