Glad to see that Hayden has already moved up the ranks a bit. Still a long way to go though.

On the smaller side, we have two Americans in the SuperSport300 series! Ashton Yates(on a R3) and Chris Taylor(on a Ninja300). Both on different bikes and different teams but going to be cheering them on this year! I will be cheering more for Chris Taylor since he is on my old bike the good ol Ninja 300(wish I could have kept it!). Funny isn't the KTM RC390 eligible for this series?? If so I don't think I saw anyone choose that bike, mostly ninja 300s and R3s with the occasional CBR500

Didn't realize Yates was on an R3! I'll have to cheer for him now since I have an R3 and he's american There's also an american ran team, sponsored and I think managed by Gregg Spears from Spears Racing (they make a lot of stuff for R3's), however they're now running a ninja 300 for this year with a British kid onboard, but supposedly next year they'll run an R3.

The RC390 is legal for the class and I was very surprised to not see any. It's basically just ninjas and yamahas. There are 3 Hondas on the grid only. If you wanna race in it, I will be selling my CBR500 soon

Didn't know spears racing even had that much money to go big into WSBK!! I believe our own @Gawernator has some sort of sponsorship from them for his Ninja 250 that he races in AFM.

That team that spears is managing could that be the one Chris Taylor is riding for??

Great offer but I'm waiting for a good Ninja 300 to come out fully loaded for me to buy lol

I was a bit off. His name is Luke Hopkins, but Spear Racing is a sponsor for his team, not running the team. My bad.

I'll have to look into sponsorship with them, although since I won't be running the R3 until probably way late in the year, it won't happen. Of course the sponsor would come in handy before that during the build, but oh well. Gregg Spears is giving out discounts to anyone that has a racing license. So in a way, there is a bit of help there anyway.

But I really wonder what is the better bike since Ninja has been the really only little bike competitor until recently. Curious to see which bike will come out on top.

I am too. I will be watching all the WSS 300 races for sure. I never got into the EJC class before, but this one looks to be more interesting.

The yamaha is slightly lighter than the ninja. Both are way lighter than the 500. I weighed my 500 when I got it in race-ready form at about 380 lbs with no more than a gallon of fuel. Gregg Spears told me that their R3 is currently under 300 lbs!

I'm hoping to get mine under 320.

A lot of titanium, and I'm not sure if they're still running stock wheels or some lightweight aftermarket ones. I know at least Marchesini makes a set for that bike, not sure about other brands. I do know that Gregg said they're running a 95 front slick and a 105 in the rear! Those are like the smallest Moto 3 tires you can pretty much get from Dunlop. They're saving a lot of rotating mass with the tires. Although personally I would not feel comfortable running such skinny tires...you're losing contact patch size and lean angle by doing that.

Gregg Spears is largely responsible for where I am today in racing as he was my primary sponsor for the first 4 years while I was on my SV650. A FANTASTIC guy to have in your corner. Still to this day the best sponsor that I have ever had.

And yes, there is a bunch of titanium on the Spears R3 bikes...some of it is MSM stuff =)

So is he selling your titanium hardware or does he have his own? He was trying to sell me on his titanium nuts and bolts saying that he's got the cheapest pricing around

So what you are saying @PainfullySlo is that you are a silent partner in whatever team spears is helping sponsor
