My wife is sick of that video. When she is playing Christmas Music I will override her Ipod and blast that through the stereo.

I guess my point is that you have to put more into a stock R1 than a stock Zx6 to get it to GO.. Of course stock suspension is not adequate if you race or act like it. I too was looking for something different to ride. I kept the Zx6r and bought an R1. I like them both but I am more comfortable going fast on the Zx6r. The R1 does have an awesome personality. That comment is usually reserved for FAT CHICKS.

Every manufacturer motorcycle have their own characteristics. I have the 09 R1 and I personally love that bike. The cross plane engine have a lot of torque and the way the engine produces power, the bike always feels slow and composed so you have less survival reactions to deal with. I want to try the 15 and up but I have too many toys that I am not willing to part with. There is no way to know if you would like it or not because no one but you knows what kind of characteristics will suit you. If you go to the R1 forum, those guys speak of the 15 like it's the bike of all bikes. Before the 15, they spoke about the previous generation as the bike of all bikes. You go to the BMW forum and the s1000rr is the bike to have, you come to the ZX6R forum and the ZX is the bike to have. I personally love all bikes and love getting to know the characteristics of that bikes. The 09 ZX6R is new to me and I've only taken it on one track day so far. I think I personally will learn to enjoy it's characteristics. Seat time and getting used to a bike is the only way to truly know if a bike is a good suit for you. And I'm not taking about crappy brakes, or soft suspension. All of those things can be adjusted. All of those things can make the bike feel like crap if not right. I'm talking about the actual characteristics of the bike.

RSV4 factory. So close to the perfect track bike out of the box.

Plus the R1 has had documented tranny problems. The fact that the warranty fix is splitting the cases to get at the transmission gives me pause. More frightening is that a local tech at a dealership (often of unknown skill) is responsible for this drastic of a recall.

The R1 is beautiful, fun to ride and sounds great, but the above problems kept me off one.

I already have at Road America by a couple of CCS guys. They sounded amazing as they blew by me at 20-30 mph faster! But so does an RSV4 with an SC Project exhaust!

Then just don't get a 2015. They fixed the problem for the '16s and now '17s.

The 2015 R1's have a tranny issue. Every bike takes time to figure out. All this aside, I don't bleed Red , Green , Blue or any other Manufacturer color. I don't care about brand loyalty. I want a solid, easy to ride bike that isn't a Puzzle to figure out. A bike that is as good from the factory as it can be. I dumped $2,000 into my 2013 R1 suspension to make it Rip. I am not done with the power delivery on the R1 yet. The bike is a bit surgy. Pipes for that bike are way more expensive than a Zx6r pipe. Need more Real experiences? The 2013 got a Slip on and a custom tune and it is done. It Rips.

I have the SC Project Carbon can, a bit more understated than the GP can they make, but it sounds really nice. I have never loved pushing the start button on a bike more!

From what I can gather on the Aprilia forum, I think the valve spring problem that everyone is talking about is for both the 2015 and 2016 models. I think that the 2017 is the one with the updated springs.

eDIT: i DID NOT EXPECT tHUG TO LOOK LIKE THAT EITHER!

Thats one of my concerns. A Yamaha Gold Star service shop no problem but a Silver or Bronze shop I would really have to question it.
