Dunlop Announces New Sportmax Q3+

Just as I had predicted
HERE

New Michelin Power RS TIRE. Release date: 01/01/2017

Dunlop Announces New Sportmax Q3+

Dunlop had a specific goal in building the Sportmax Q3+ and that was to create a tire that delivers the same class-leading performance as the Q3, but one that lasts longer to give riders more track days and more time on their favorite twisting roads. In the end, the Q3+ proved to offer even better performance than the Q3, plus up to 30 percent boost in tire life.

The Sportmax Q3 has been the darling of serious sport and track-day riders ever since itís introduction four years ago, and improving on its design meant squeezing every gram of weight and every fraction of performance out of each component. As a result, more than 80-percent of the Q3+ components are redesigned compared to the Q3, creating a dramatically improved tire. The rearís new silica-enriched center tread section has increased longevity without sacrificing grip. In fact, the performance of the Q3+ dramatically eclipses that of the Q3. Tested back-to-back with the Sportmax Q3, the Q3+ was more than a second quicker at Roebling Road Raceway.

In addition to the carbon fiber reinforcement utilized in the sidewalls of the front and rear tires, construction and compound changes contributed to added tire stability, giving the Q3+ 3.5 percent to 6.0 percent more footprint and more grip at max lean angles. By delivering more grip and more longevity, the Q3+ is a faster, longer lasting tire, able to provide riders with more riding days compared to the Q3.

Fast Facts
- The only hypersport tire made in the U.S.A., the Q3+ was designed at Dunlopís Buffalo, NY headquarters, and manufactured in the Buffalo plant on the same high-tech production equipment as Dunlopís racing tires.

- Dunlopís Carbon Fiber Technology (CFT) employed in the Q3+ uses carbon fiber reinforcement in the tire sidewalls for exceptional cornering performance and feel.

- Aggressive Q3+ tread pattern uses minimal tread grooves that are long in length to enhance wet-weather performance.

I love the Q3. I am sure the Q3+ will be great as well. Best thing is the tires are sold with very competitive pricing. They don't last long but maybe the new one will be better in terms of longevity.

lol trying out my first set to see how long they will last for me. Currently running a mid intermedite pace so I should get some life out of them and will see if my yearly track budget can afford to stay with them. Right now I'm thinking 2 or maybe 3 sets for this track year but really just dont know yet. Different track conditions, pace improvements, yadda yadda yadda. If not, then I will probably look at the Q3+s or go back to the PP3's for my 09 which is a tire I absolutely loved on my 07. But after 3 laps on the SC2's I basically fell in love.

You have me interested. Anyone going to try them please?

A play on words, or words on play
Last chapter, verse in the final act
Words well scripted, each sentence choking
Inaudible gag, blanket which suffocates
As you eat another's words
Malnourished, you starve.

Distributors won't have them until sometime in MAy
I am not sure I will see them til late May, and won't even know pricing until about then (but in typical Dunlop fashion I expect the rollout will include a rebate to end consumer, but maybe only at Pro Dealers.....since this seems to be the movement they are making)

But I will certainly have them on my bike and others to test

Would have been nice to know these were coming out soon, before I just stocked up on 100+ Q3's for the summer............

Stupid people say stupid things on the internet, so be wary of who those people are. If you solicit advice on the internet, just keep in mind 99% of what you'll receive is not based on fact or science-and likely atleast 95% of it is based on bullshit and bravado regurgitated from some other schlub who also did not experience any of what they claim and are also full of shit. If you don't like my bluntness- too bad. I am not here to please you, so move along, your approval is not desired nor is it needed. So before opening your pie hole and adding more stupidity, perhaps sit back, listen, absorb and learn something. You know that saying, it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!

The Pirelli nomenclature is a little obscure for me to keep track of. When everyone is talking about SC0, SC1, SC2, how does that relate to the way the sellers list them? For example, SBTG lists their tires like this:

Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC V1
Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC V2 - is this the same tire when people say "I like SC2 on the front"?

'06 ZX6R, '08 FJR1300, '06 GSXR 600, '14 Ninja 1000, '11 KTM 690 Enduro

On the Ninja - Galfer rotors, '09 calipers, Brembo RCS M/C, Beet exhaust, Carrozzeria wheels, Ohlins damper, Sato rearsets, Healtech QuickshifterEasy

No, V1 and V2 are very different tires. Without going into a long story, you want V2. Once there you can choose the compound (SC0=supersoft/qualifying, SC1=Soft, SC2=Medium, SC3=Hard)

It should also be noted that there is a SuperCorsa SP version as well but is far less popular on the track. I picked up the SC2 Mediums and im loving them, however it seems that a lot more advanced/faster riders than me will sometimes mix up what they have on the front and on the back.

Most places don't even carry the V1, or at least not in many options. I thought the V1 is just the previous version, so it's just the old model, which sells for less nowadays. I don't know of anyone that gets the V1.
