race report round 1 WMRRA!!
Never in my wildest of dream would I think I would have this great of a start to racing this year!! Had so much fun. And a few low points too!
Before this season started Kurt Hawk, let me ride his ninja 300 at T-hill, then his 450 at flat track. With his experiences and knowledge of bike set up, I learned alot, and also humbled by his generosity. Tana Miller for entertainment and food. O man the food!! ( =. David k. Even let me ride his son's 250 for a round. Very much appreciated that.
Nels Byersdorf and his skills of smooth power and my tc and abs. The stock tc and abs were very crude and hard to deal either untill he worked his magic. A dream to ride. Such a different bike. Thanks so much for you time and effort. Made my life so much easier! ! Bellview motorsports for there support also. Top notch!!
Also big thanks Hotbodies and vortex for there continued support. Love the parts. Revzilla, for sending my toe sliders next day air. After I ordered the wrong ones. They even paid the shipping. Omg Nick that was great!
My sv650, broke last session of the 2 fast track day that Mark DeGross puts on the day before the races. He got my from street nut job to a decent rider with his words, time and experience. If you want to improve your riding. He is the man to see!!
I had Will Smith and Paul R Gienau working on my bike before I could even ask. Alex Schramm drove for like 7 hours after the track day to get Paul's spare engine for parts. Not an easy thing to do after a long track day. So thanks for that. I needed to get some bits and a easy-out from home depot. When I got back I had a small army working to get the bolt extracted from the bike. Alan Merkley and Chris Gray for your efforts. In the end it needed to have the motor torn apart. So went to bed a little down. But again my good fortune, Bob May lent me his bike, he had a wedding to be at, but still drove it over for me so I could race. So greatful for that. You aware awesome! !
Then the rain came. And me with out good rain rubber. Darrin Griffin and his ever so stick perelli tires hooked me up. Not only with good rubber, but his service and professionalism is outstanding. Made sure I was well taken care of!!
First race was formula ultra, normally just the cream of the crop. The best of the best. Not really thinking about a good result. Just wanted to not crash and see if if could run 16 laps. With my out standing pit group (Will, Paul, Alex and Stephen) I had to just ride my bike. A small oversight after a red flag. Did not top off my fuel. I worked my way up to 4th place before I ran out of fuel 2 turns before checkered flag. I was stunned that I was able to do so. Not sure I'll be able to do that again. But felt great!!
With 4 races in a row, I could have not had icon better, Will Smith had my second bike running and ready each and every time. So incredible, to just be able to ride the bike and not worry. With out him and the others, none of this would have been possible.
Sunday was another wild and wet ride. Broke quick shifter for 650SS off the line andnnfairend was stuck in second gear. I did try and hand shift. But was not possible. Sorry to Greg Canright for weaving back and forth in front of him. Really am sorry.
I had no plan to run anymore big bike classes rest of weekend. But when DJ ran down to my pits and said that I should, and offered me some rubber to do so. I could not say no. Before I knew it. My crew, Alex, Paul and Will. We're stripping my wheels down and Dj had them mounted and in my pits before I got back from registration. Thanks to Brandi for dealing with all my adding and back and forth with races!! Gridded up in back and was able to not get lapped by Mitchell Pierce. And take second. To me this was first place. As Mitchell is not human and all earthly forces seem to have zero effect on him.
Had a crash coming down to turn 3 on Bob mays SV. Hit a false neutral and had and small panic and grabbed to much front brake. Corner workers where great. Thanks Ric (crash) and Chris La Fayette. For yelling directions at me so that I could make the next race. Little did I know Joanna was working her magic and allowing me time to get check out by parametrics, retech my gear and switch bikes. I came back to my pits with engine running and postive encouragement and finished last race of the day with a win.
I last but not least Brenda Love my gf. Her support and encouragement are the best!!
Sorry if in forgot anyone. My weekend was intense!!
