Final blast of the year....

So back in October 2015 I went on one last blast before the weather was going to turn. I had my Drift camera on me and was hoping to get some good footage of me tearing up the nice roads that Scotland has to offer.

I took that photo on the ride out.

After a good few hours ride I turned around and headed back home. I stopped off at a popular bike cafe to fill up before the last leg of my journey (and paused my camera). I noticed another biker getting ready to set off so I quickly put my gloves on and forgot to press record on my camera. I followed the rider for about 3 miles until we came to a roundabout, where he went left and I continued straight. Coming out of the roundabout i put the power on thinking I was going back out into the wilderness. I continued to build up speed and as I came over the brow of the hill I noticed another roundabout ahead. Instantly I knew I wasn't going to make it. I slammed the brakes on, the rear locked up and was sliding around, but I was still carrying to much speed. I went straight into the roundabout.

This is the aftermath

Luckily it was just a dislocated shoulder. The bike was a write off. Now its time to decided whether to get a 09 ZX6 or a similar year CBR 600RR. The plan is to slowly turn the bike into a track bike.

Damn, didn't expect to see you on the floor like that. Good thing you didn't get too banged up.

Oh yeah and stop chasing other riders

Glad you are still with us to comment..... there are far too many video clips of people wadding up their bikes, and far too many stories concerning the results of chasing 'locals' in unfamiliar territory.

Not to beat you while you are down -- looks like you got a bloody nose in the crash? How beat up was your FF helmet?

I did the shoulder separation thing.... make sure when you get into physical therapy, you do everything they tell you to. Mobility come from stretching all that sh*t that doesn't want to...... I definitely had a love/hate relationship with the PT staff. Cold sweat, and 'muscling through' the pain.....

Glad you are on the mend.

What have you learned?

Black care rarely sits behind a rider whose pace is fast enough.

Damn glad you are ok. Must have hit your head pretty hard if you are thinking about a 09 CBR600RR over a ZX6

I'm a bit gutted I didn't catch it on camera to be honest. The helmet seemed to have done its job, as apart from the bloody nose my head was fine. The shoulder seems to have be fully fit again, with slight niggles but thats expected.

I'm not too sure to be honest. The crash hasn't put me off riding, because it was my fault. Where if it was a mechanical fault or a car pulling out I'd maybe more cautious. I do plan on taking my riding to the track, its something I've always wanted to do and its always been my end goal to race. Maybe this has given me the kick up the arse and made me realise I've been riding dangerously on the road.

Haha! I'd love a 09 ZX6, but it all comes down to costs. Its a lot of money to spend on a first track bike. However if i find one for the right price, it will deffo be my go to choice!
