First ride on my 636, and crashed

This summer i was tired of my car and decided to buy myself a bike...
After a long time searching, watching a lot of video's i finally found one, a '06 636 with 36k Km on it.
A few days later i got my licence to drive, during my dayjob.

The moment i had it it was 2Pm,my boss asked me to do a repair in the city, ofcourse i asked to take my bike and it was ok.
It was a awesome drive... Very carefull, i didnt overtake one car, i had a little bit of fun in a tunnel ofcourse...
That all went very smooth, no problems whatsoever...

The day was done and i called my parents that i would come over for dinner and to show my new bike.
Halfway on the drive i had a red light right before a bridge where it is 70Km/h...
Still did not overtake one car and was driving carefull, but it was 5.30Pm and evryone was driving home from work...
So the light turns green, i start driving.. Right before the bridge 2 lanes go to one.. I was driving in the right lane and there was a car next to me in the left lane...
I left space for the car to move in, but it wasn't good enough, he had to move in before the car in front of me at the last point possible, the car in front of me had to brake already...
At this moment i should have been more carefull already...

The moment we hit 70km/h that idiot car driver who made the one in front of me brake, suddenly pulls an emergency brake out of nothing....
Ofcourse i did not expect it, and as there where a lot of cars on the road i left to little space for my expirience
So i crached in the car in front of me at +- 30 km/h, and since that day i'm sitting home...
The woman and her passenger in the car in front of me did not get the licence plate so i was in fault :/

At first i tought i had nothing but a broken bike, but while lifting the bike up to clean the road i noticed i had no strenght in my right arm and a bone in my shoulder was coming up.
After a look up in the hospital they sayd 3 ligaments in my shoulder where broken.
So now i'm home for 3 1/2 months, and have a broken bike :/
Knowing if i had a dash cam and recorded the licence plate of that idiot it would have cost me nothing... Now i've lost €3500 to repair costs, hospital bills, and a lot less money each month from not be able to work :/

So yeh that was my first day on my bike
My next drive will be straight to the parking lot to go and test the breaking..
After that i'll drive to my parents without calling them, becouze the call that i wasn't gonna make it wasn't very fun as you can imagion...

But ofcourse i can not wait to get back on it... This time with a dash cam
I do regret my bike had to go trough this couze i think he was gorgeous :'(
But i do not regret a little bit i buyd this bike!
Yesterday for the first time i try'd to ride on it again and it was awesome, but my shoulder wasn't allowing it so it was just a ride in the garage..

Below pictures of the bike before and after the crash, and a picture of my shoulder
(after a month of the surgery i started sleeping the whole night again, so i defently will not forget this lesson )

Sorry to hear about your crash. At least your alive but welcome to the shoulder seperation club. I have one of those bumps as will and it still bothers me now and then. No surgery for me but down the road I will need to do something.
Heal up, get the bike up and keep riding. Just remember those cars are out to kill you so be safe.

Sorry to hear about your crash. As my wife keeps telling me - your alive. Ligaments and tendons take a while to heal - shattered lower part of my kneecap and had to have tendon re-attached. Spent 2 months out of the office and I've got a desk job. I'm on the other side of it now but have an idea of what your going thru. Know what you mean about sleeping. You will get over it! Keep up with the re-hab, it makes a difference. You are young and will heal quick.

Funny part of my experience is my granddaughter comes up to me and says Grandaddy BIG booboo as she runs her finger down the scar on my knee! Her mother gave me a T-shirt that says Bad Decisions Make Great Stories.

Not a good way to start, but it could've been worse. So when you say it was your first time riding it, was it also the first time riding a bike ever? Have you taken any sort of motorcycle training before? If not, I would strongly suggest that. There are lots of people that are "self-taught" and usually end up learning the hard way, in a more expensive and painful way. Rider training can go a long way in preventing such crashes. Heal up, fix it up and learn from it. Sucks that you have to miss work for such a long period of time.

I took 20 hours of driving lessons, as there is no other way to gain a driver licence here, but not on this bike.
The guy did told me lots of times to keep distance...
But as i am used to cars, the distance was more then enough in my opinion + as there was no reason to break there whatsoever...

Tbh the most hatefull part isn't that i'm unable to work now, altough i am quite bored atm...
Or that i have to pay a lot becouse of one frustrated idiot...
The shoulder will heal and the bike will be repaired...

But all this riding time i could have had, that time is the one thing i can not get back
I buyed the bike quickly and rushed my licence so i could drive around and enjoy this summer,
now i have to wait untill mid November to drive again, but then it will be cold, wet and almost snowing :/

The bright side, i strongly believe this small crash prevented a much bigger one in the future
