I want to upgrade my chain/sprockets for wheelies, need help. ('07/'08)

I want to do my first major upgrade for sprockets (and I assume I'll need a new chain?) to be able to do power wheelies. From what little I've read there are different up/down sizes I can do with the sprockets. I know this will affect my top speed some, but what combo will let me do power wheelies easily in 1st & 2nd like it's nothing, but not crazily affect my gas mileage (I don't have a need to go whatever the ZX6R top speed is, but still like to go up to 120-130 lol)? So..enlighten me.

I think they say -1 in the front +2 in the back is what is good, plus u can keep your existing chain. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

ya i think you can keep your chain with -1 +2 but if your changing all out anyways might as well change chain too........second thing -1 +2 would be good but learn to clutch up.. power wheelies can turn bad really quick...clutch up is so much smoother and you can control it alil bit more

I think to do power wheelies easily you would need a crazy big rear sprocket. That's if your talking easy like liter bike easy.

Idk I can't seem to do clutch ups when I tried on my old bike ('05 636) and power wheelies in first seemed so easy to me. The '07 seems to have a little different power band than my '05 (plus I know it's not as powerful), and figured changing sprockets would be the best bet. Won't I also need a speedohealer too if I change sprockets?

I have -1/+1 on my 636 and power wheelies are ridiculous easy. I am one of those those that say stay away from power wheelies and learn the clutch-up technique. Power wheelies are too unpredictable IMHO. Even so you really can't go wrong with -1/+1 or -1/+2.

Clutch ups are much better, I still use stock gearing. I hear if you do -1 +2 it makes highway 60+ mph rides hell. Unless you plan to stunt I'd just do -1 on the front if anything. Oh and opt for the premium chain if you plan to put stress i.e. wheelies on it.

id go -1 only on front if you still wanting to do higher speed runs and it should still power wheelie but be careful

if you wanting to clutch it up then practise it will clutch up you just havent got the timing right yet
check out some you tube vides on wheelies and go easy
they will help you out

on my older zx6r (see pic <<<<<) it will wheelie with standard sprockets on as well as the -1 +6 on now but at 70 mph its doing 7000 rpm

Sounds like I may just keep my stock gearing to keep my high speed/gas mileage if I want, and just practice clutch ups. What does doing -1 front only do??

if you just -1 on the front (and put covers back on) no one will ever know, so you can kick ass.
you'll have a quicker pulling away speed top end wont be much different
and yea it will still wheelie

i got the -1 +2 with stock chain and its great top speed is about 154 and still highway speeds are not bad and i would suggest getting the healtech xtre and healtech speedohealer

although i dont break the speed limits "a good mate of mine" told me my bikes done 130mph and had more left in it but i was hanging on
i mean he was hanging on (no fairing etc)
revs higher with -1 +6 on it but still has it

when i done the charity ride it was standard gearing and would still clutch wheelie
its all down to good timing

was out the other day and had some really crap wheelies again i relised i was all wrong in clutch revs etc timing
practise
and cover the back brake
ps ... my mates not going on it again
