yup... don't do them. In 20+ years of sport bikes I can probably count the intentional wheelies on 2 hands. Hard landings will kill head bearings. You'll stretch chains faster, possibly blow forks seals easier... clutch will wear out faster. Many things that'll add up to MORE MONEY being spent even if you don't loop it.

Then there's the risk of flippin' yer baby on it's ass... hurting it pretty badly... or worse.. yourself.

So for me... I believe motorcycles were designed with 2 wheels for very good reasons. These bikes were designed to go fast and handle extremely well. Can they wheelie? Yes.... is that what they were designed to do? Nope...

That's my .02

That being said.... clutching up will be better for learning. Start slow.. .watch videos on youtube. Ask someone with experience some tips. and take your time. No hurry... again... 20+ years for me. I prefer 3 or 4 inch power wheelies myself.

I like wheelies... That being said, you do roll the dice every time you decide to go on one wheel- it really depends on how comfortable you feel about doing it. If you still have that fear of wrecking your bike I would probably wait until you get alittle more "willing" to have to pay for any "accidents" that may occur. Never know when your gonna roll those snake eyes!

actually now that stunting has became so popular there are some designing factors they do take into consideration.

True... but a production bike off of the showroom floor has one intention.

If you wanted to stunt the bike you're going to be modding it for that. There is no production super sport or liter bike that is built today that has ANY thought of stunting designed into it. It is what people such as yourself, that do stunt, do with the production bike that make it a stunt bike.

Other than that.... they're meant to go fast and turn.

But you are right... times are changing. But that being said... just like a street bike off of the showroom floor... they don't make specially designed dirt bikes made for trick riding. Those must be modded too. And trick motocross has been around for 10+ years now.

freestyle riding has been around for a long time. street or dirt.. there have been changes, for instance, the oil pick up being in the back. most productions have made it this way bc of stunting. its a must have. most of your older bikes they are always closer to the front.

Although I haven't started to do wheelies.... I do agree that they will end up fucking up your bike. The same as doing a full boar launch in a car... just becasue you can... dosen't mean you should though....

oil pickup was moved to the back of modern sport bikes due to the acceleration keeping the oil to the rear of the sump. Had nothing to do with wheelies. Pulling 1.0 acceleration G's isn't gonna keep the oil sitting nicely in the pan... it's pretty much pushed up against the back of it.. lol.

But again... I'm not disagreeing with you. Simply stating that I would bet my life savings that the engineers at Kawi, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, etc... aren't taking stunting into consideration when designing a bike. They are looking for performance... since that is what 90% of the buyers of these things are after. And that 99% of the technology and design coming into dealer showrooms these days has trickled down from prior years race bikes and spec models... not so much stunting.

dont push it,
dont go to hard or fast,
and cover the rear brake.
if its comming up to fast or snappy brake and roll off the revs
if you not sure dont do it at all .

apart from that you in the right section for learning how to........
have a search and get some vids posted lol.

have fun but be safe
