I can't decide which to buy a 6r or 10r your help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a former jixxer 1000 owner looking for either a zx6r or zx10r I just saw both @ the Dealer the other day. The only thing I don't like about the 2015 zx6r is the gas tank it's to round on the outer edges. I have no dislikes about the zx10r.

If you have already owned a 1k I don't think a 6 is going to work for you..

This is why I have turned down every offer I have gotten to ride someone's 1k.

Do you like shifting or do you want to ride around in 1 gear all day?

Not necessarily. I owned two ZX-10Rs before getting my ZX-6R. There is just not enough non-track places to take advantage of the -10's massive power. I felt like I wasn't using the bike to even 1/2 its potential. I wanted a -6 once I rode my wife's Gixxer 6 and felt how nimble it was in the corners.

OP, it is all about what you want out of the bike. If you want pure power, skip the -6.

All depends on your skill level, how you're riding, where you're riding (as in if you are a track day rider or not), etc...

Personally, I could have went with the ZX-10R and that would have been my choice for a literbike as it was either any Kawasaki, Yamaha or Honda at cost minus an employee rebate from the factory. I decided that since I'm no longer in Dallas anymore, although I will be again soon, the smaller town I am in, I would be riding around in 1st gear everywhere I went. Now if I were in Dallas, then I would have leaned more towards the literbike.

To me personally, I think a literbike can make you a lazy rider. All you have to do is twist the throttle on a literbike and it goes.

For me a 600, or in my case a 636, is just more fun.

How much riding experience do you have? Taken an MSF course? Been on a track? You really need 180hp? Not many need all that power, but it sure is fun, but what I'm trying to ask, would you use any of the potential in a literbike or would you get around 80% of out a 600?

I have a feeling this is more of a question if you need a 600 or a literbike and if you had a "Gixxer," then you should already know this. Something tells me you might not of had that bike for very long. To me a 600 series bike will make you a better rider, at the 1st half of your riding stint

Oh and by the way, It's called a "Gixxer" for slang, not a "Jixxer."

No, it is the 300's now. Or the KTM 390.

Well.....
If you like top speed in a straight line then a 10 is the way to go. But if you want a quick response in the twistes then a 636 is the ticket. All depends on you are going to do more of.

I don't really understand what you are saying/asking. Are you implying that you would decide between a 636 and a 1000 based on the shape of a gas tank?

Of all the things to base a decision on, I would say that isn't it...

10r ABS model is great!

more work to ride on a technical track but power at everywhere compared to a 600...

i'm too light and short to benefit of a liter bike.
hubby loves his so much more and he had a track 05gixxer1k (all done up incl engine head) and same model for street (just stock).

he loves kawi since he started racing back in 1994 with 1993 zx7r and he found the zx10 to be easier and very similar to the zx7, right out of the box. he doesnt miss his gixxer at all!

got 20hp extra just in fuel mapping/tuning out of it. got ECU flashed, slip on exhaust, gutted cat, dynojet autotune. After all that done he says it runs stronger and faster than his race gixxer ever did!

if you can, find a slightly used (under 5k mileage) zx10 and invest the saved money into valved and sprung rear shock and all the tuning i mentioned.

I have ridden a 600, 636, 675 and 1000. I love the 600 class a lot more than the 1000. Not sure why. I just do. However, that new zx10r has been looking really nice lately.
