Impaktech Crash Cage?

Was wondering if i had to cut the plastics for the Impaktech crash cage to fit? I really don't want to cut them on my bike but i want protection for my bike as i did tip it over today in my garage onto me on accident. Kickstand wasn't down all the way and the bike tipped over onto my left leg very little damage but because of this i want MAXIMUM protection. I read nothing but great things about Impaktech crash cages but i was wondering if i had to cut the plastics on my 2015 ZX-6R to mount it?

From what I've seen for some you do. But why get those cages if you aren't a stunter. If you are a canyon carver wouldn't the sliders that stuck it so far hit the ground? I think if I remember right some from here crashed on a ride because his cage hit the ground.

Race rails instead

From what ive read yes the stunt crash cage is not what i was really looking for the Race Rails is more what i'm looking for. Do i have to cut the plastics for a race rail? In the picture on Impaktech's site it seems like a direct no cut bolt on fit but i may be wrong. I don't want to cut my plastics. If i have to ill do the rear subframe by Impaktech and get R&G frame sliders for the front. I would like the race rail if it will be a direct fit though.

Unfortunately the bike was dropped yesterday. More of a tip over cause the bike was not moving. It was in my garage. VERY LITTLE belly fairing damage. will be replaced very soon. Kickstand slipped the bike is still new to me. I hate myself for it and i feel terrible. It happened last night. I got no sleep. Never did anything like that before. I let the bike fall onto my left leg to brace the fall and it could have been MUCH MUCH worse. Luckily the only damage significant is in the pics below. Besides the mirrors with a slight scuff and the bar end with a minuscule mark on it the bike is mint. I would say im pretty lucky. My leg however is not lol it hurts... I did everything i could to save the bike my leg could have been shattered but it was a mistake none the less and now i will take every necessary precaution to make sure i never let it happen again. 3 years of riding 2 motorcycles and this was the first hiccup. Very disappointed in myself. VERY.

It happens. Now your bike has some personality. I dropped it the other day in the driveway. I use motovation frame sliders and there was no damage whatsoever to the bike other than to the slider.

I'm not 100% on your generation zx if cutting is required for racerailz. They tie the front and rear motor mount together so glancing at those two points will tell of you need to cut or not. Frame sliders use the front engine mounts as their point of mounting as well. So if you need to cut for sliders, you would need to cut for racerailz and vice versa.

I don't think the race rail will require any sort of cutting from the picture. I will have to ask them tomorrow but worst comes to worst i make a slight cut or i will get R&G frame sliders and still do the rear sub cage for the tail protection from Impaktech. Winter is on its way so i won't be riding any time soon i have lots of time to think about it and decide what i want to put on it. I really would like to put the race rail on it i think that would be my best bet.

Sorry to hear you dropped your bike, you should've thrown yourself under the bike to stop it from making contact with the ground (I'm kidding). Having the frame sliders like R&G will prevent the engine from taking a hit in such situations, but not really for bodywork protection. Race rails provide more of a protection in terms of the bar. Stunt cage offers more, but somewhat sacrifices your lean angle.

It's good to want to protect your bike but at the expense of fudging up the looks of it, perhaps you want to take a moment and think it through a bit. Dropping bike happens, if you are not paying attention, so if you remind yourself to pay more attention, that would minimize the possibility of it happening. So you don't have to go all out with the cage and bars, a decent slider would suffice.

End of the day it's your coin so it's up to you want you want to install for your bike.
