2013 ZX6R Street Fighter

Picked up a 2013 ZX6R for a great price. Going to do a simple build as an upright, naked street fighter.

It had been crashed once or twice, repo'ed, and then sold at auction. Most of the damage was superficial. rear sets, bar ends, axles already replaced before auction and the tank has a nice dent which is the biggest bummer. Bike already had a rear fender eliminator as well as an M4 slip on shorty muffler installed.

Current picture:

Here it is the night I got it home

Starting stripping her down and was a little bummed on the placement and size of the forced air injection port. Cant use a front fairing style light since it'll block all airflow so I'll have to go with an open style headlight to allow air flow.

First thing first, pressure tested the tank for leaks, all good. Sanded, painted and swagged out the dent.

Then used the R&G racing carbon tank sliders to "cover up" the damage

Relocated the rectifier to the front of the radiator with radiator fan ties and spacers to keep it cool

Decided the plastic coolant expansion tank had to go and found a slim 20oz tank that will do the job. Mounted it off of the upper electric fan bracket and with an electric fan radiator tie.

Made a simple grille for the forced air injection port to keep crap out of it. Grinded the lip and raised bolt holes flush on the frame & painted. Then tapped the 4 existing holes, cut and painted some square meshing to fit and bolted it on with button head Allen hardware.

Decided to run two 6" single row led spot light bars for headlights. I'll wire it so one is on for low beam and second one for the high beam. They turned out to be a little deep so I put them in the band saw and cut off most of the heat sinks. Not worried about over heating them. Leds can take 180 degree temps and they will be fully exposed and air cooled

Shows how much I cut off

After cutting the heat sinks, as well as cutting, sanding and painting the end caps. Factory!

Lights in place with the use of rough country universal round tube brackets. They fit very snug but clear everything lock to lock.

That was an option. The tank was perfect besides the one dent so The carbon fiber tank sliders worked fine for me.

Cut the pointy tip off the tank shrouds to fit flush with curve of frame and repainted them black.

I usually hate these street fighter conversions but this bike looks like it's in good hands.

I would have taken all of those stickers off the tank before putting the tank slider on though.
