All depends on how long you've held your riding licence, how old you are, what area you live in etc etc.

For example, I'm 29, held my licence for 11 years, full NCB and live in a decent enough postcode area, my bike is 14 years old and I pay £75 FC

(Aquote by the way)

With my GS500F and ZX6R I am paying 200.00 a year but got my GS500F as the primey bike that I ride. I took the state troopers training course which dropped my insurance 15%.

I think the age of the bike has a massve effect on insurance, I'm 22 and have had my licence for 4 months and pay 330ish for my 98 zx6r tpft. Thats through bike sure, try the mcn compare site it seems to be pretty good for quotes

Try tesco compare: Motorbike Insurance - compare cheap bike insurance policies | TESCO Compare <<< Linky

Also, you could go for a fully comp quote and put a high amount of voluntary excess (this should bring down the premium a bit). Just hope that you don't need to claim! lol.

Bloody hell thats steep, I got my ninja when I was 21 and just passed my test and my insurance then was nowhere near that high, It was half that at least. At the minute I'm with Bennetts and paying £80 a year with 4 years NCB and an at fault accident.

I'm an old fart though and have never claimed on my insurance

To put it into context, when I got my first 600cc I had a brand new licence, it was a Yamaha thundercat, it was four years old and worth £3500ish.

Insurance wanted £3700 tpft

Insurance companies don't really look at how much you'll use it, yes they like to ask your mileage but I reckon that's a way to judge how much risk you'll be at rather than you paying for usage.

Unfortunately most riders just starting out have to go for tpft rather than fc until the price comes down some.

Just don't be tempted by MCE, biggest load of con artists going and they'll screw you over royally come renewal time when they'll just take your renewal out without telling you, then you have to jump through hundreds of hoops just to get your money back
Yeah, I've had dealings with MCE but it's not an uncommon complaint about them.

Oh and guys? It's UK insurance not US insurance

My bike is first registered 2008 that might be why the prices are nuts my post code area is not to bad. Fully comp I am not even going to entertain the company with £2145,53 tpft £1500 (cheapest) just third party £612

My old man has 9 years no claims bonus but not had a bike for 2 years can they still be used?? Cheers
