I just checked and I got mine about 1.5 years ago for $250 and considered that a REALLY good deal

Been looking around and they all seem to be unfortunately around £300 second hand. Expensive but I guess they cost more than a regular slip on when brand new.

My bike came with a scorpion but they stick out from the back of the bike more than I'd like so I was also after an akra but because they are so expensive I ended up getting a friend to shorten the scorpion for me. I got some new expanding wadding stuff to pack the can and even though it's 2 inches shorted than before its no louder than it was prior to cutting (bare in mind it is louder than an akra would be though). It sounds tighter though, not as boomy. I don't know if that makes sense...it pops and bangs nicely on the overrun too. The scorpion came with a baffle to quieten things down but it's very restrictive, affecting the bikes performance, one end is perforated but also has a cap welded on so we cut the cap off. Now the bike should be a bit quieter with it in but not as restricted as it would of been previously.

If you really want an akra, get one, they are lovely bits of kit that are well made. I had a full system on my 7r but I paid £300 for a used full system and now with the 6r the same money only gets you a slip on.

You could look for another brand. There are some naff looking ones but the scorpions and yoshimuras look decent. There was a carbon mivv can on eBay the other day and that was £150 but I think they will all stick out of the end of the bike by a couple inches (which is what annoyed me), you might be ok with that, you might not.

Arata slip ons look nice but those are like finding a unicorns horn.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Just to add, finding a bracket to mount the indicators is very difficult as they seem to be discontinued. Scorpion cans are also discontinued but may still be available from some places. If you get a used can make sure you get a bracket that will enable you to mount the numberplate an indicators too.

Have you seen this? Doesn't come with a bracket to mount indicators/plate or a db killer (handy for MOT if you have a strict tester). Still seems a decent deal though;

Just seen your messages, I actually bought a seconded hand akrapovic exhaust, being delivered should be with me tomorrow or Wednesday, I've actually got built in indicators into my rear light, with a evotech tail tidy for the number plate, yes I don't like the ones that's stick out that's why I wanted the akrapovic plus they sound the best, and I did see that can buy not so keen on the shape to be honest

Cool. Yeah, I know what you mean about the mivv.
How much did you get the akra for in the end? And yeah they generally do sound sweet...not too noisy and gives a nice controlled tight sound.

I did think about integrated lights but some MOT places don't like them as there is supposed to be a standard distance between the left and right indicators (I forget the measurement).

You should get some pics up when it's on...

I payed £250 plus posting for it, and yeah I will get some pictures up when it's done, it was meant to be delivered today but it's been delayed,I took the exhaust and servo motor out yesterday, so it's all ready to be out on. And I didn't realise you have to a distance between them on the rear light.

My previous MOT guy said it to me about the integrated indicators when I had my 7r but he was quite strict. Your guy might be ok. Or if you've had the bike a while and it's never been a problem I can't see them changing all of a sudden.

Make sure you keep the original bits. Comes olin handy when you come to sell and want to make some money back. I never got the OE stuff from the previous owner of my 6r.

I'm going to look out for a OE exhast, servo and cables after I sort out a couple bits on my bike. I think I'm going to get a power commander next but I might leave that until spring. Getting the suspension set up for my weight is also high on the priority list.

Before

After

Looks a bit better now. I wanted to give the can a brushed effect with some scotchbrite but didn't have the time so polished it shal stay.

I got a clear screen on the way to. It's from China so I'm hoping it will be ok....

Looks nice quite similar to mine to be honest, the can looks good, I've thought about getting a light smoke screen for a while but at the minute I just have a double bubble dark screen.
